Abstract

A decorative light spiral comprises a string of lights 2 attached to a tensile coil 1 and a control box 4. The coil can be mounted on an object such as a Christmas tree by means of central fastening 3 which may itself be illuminated.

Description

LIGHT SPIRAL
The invention relates to lights of the type which may also include a control box operating flashing, multi-coloured and various designed lights, and which can be hung around a tree/object.
Such lights are well known, but many suffer the disadvantage that they are both awkward and time consuming to either hang or remove from a tree/object, and are difficult to store without getting tangled.
The intention of this invention is to provide a set of lights that can be quickly and easily hung and removed, and stored flat, without getting tangled, and are ready for placing on a tree/object.
Accordingly, this invention provides a string of lights with a control box/transformer, attached to a mounting, with a fastener in the centre. So that when you clip the centre of the mounting to the top of a tree/object, the lights are evenly arranged into place around the tree/object. The mounting design also allows for the quick and easy removal of the lights, and prevents them tangling when being used or stored.
Preferably, the mounting is made from steel or plastic and would have indents or similar for the electrical bulbs and wire to fit into. Alternatively, plastic tubing could be heat- shrunk around the mounting and lighting loom.
The control box could include, as well as various flashing patterns and speeds, sound-to- light technology (in time to music), sound activated Christmas carols or bells (clap to activate). The fastening could be disguised as an angel, star, sphere, or other and possibly illuminated.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows a plan view of the lights.
Figure is a closer view of the fastener showing internal bulb and wire and conical recess for mounting of lights.
Figure 3 shows a side elevation of the lights when extended.
As shown in Figure 1, the lights comprise of a fastening (3), attached to the centre of a mounting (I), that has a lighting loom (a), attached and running to a control box/ transformer (4).
Figure shows the fastening (3), incorporating a recess (5), and bulb and wire to lighting loom (a).
Figure 3 shows the lights fully mounted as they would look on a tree/object. - 2 -
