Abstract
A wall mounted frame height adjustment device comprises a main body 1 which is rotatably mounted on a spindle 5. The mounting is fitted with a ratchet means which allows the main body to be locked into position. The spindle has screw holes 6 for allowing the device to be mounted onto a wall. A boss 3, which is fitted to the main body, serves as a supporting means for a frame. In use, the eccentrically mounted position of the picture supporting boss allows the position of the frame to be adjusted by rotating the main body about the wall mounted spindle. Two or more of these devices may be used in conjunction with one another.

WALL MOUNTED - FRAME IIEIGHT ADJUSTING DEVICE
The invention relates to a Frame height adjusting device FHAD fitted to the wall, which includes a boss 3 to hang the wire from the frame on, and a main body I which rotates around the spindle 5, which adjusts the height of the frame without having to adjust the length of the wire supporting the frame.
Most problems with other types of frame hanging devices are that, you cannot adjust the height of the frame without having to first remove the frame from the wall, and then adjust the length of the wire supporting the frame, which can be very frustrating when you are attempting to align two or more frames together. This causes the user to remove the frame and adjust the length of the wire supporting the frame. This can happen countless times before the user actually gets the height they want.
The object of this invention is to enable the user to attach the device onto the wall; roughly where they would like to hang the frame, and then rotate the device without removing the frame from the wall, which in turn adjusts the height of the frame.
Preferably the device can be constructed from plastic, which makes the device light, robust and very easy to make, but also can be constructed from metal for the much larger and heavier frames.
The device can be constructed to various sizes so to accommodate different size and weight of frames.
To use the FHAD: 1. Fix the FHAD to the wall approximately where you want the frame to be hung by drilling two holes for a larger FHAD and one hole for a smaller FHAD.
2. Fit the wire to the frame as usual, or use the picture mounted FHAD on each side of the frame. Then hang the wire on the boss 3 on the front of the main body I fitted to the wall.
3. To adjust the height of the frame, rotate the main body I of the FHAD in a clockwise direction.
4. If the user rotates the main body I too far then continue to rotate the main body I until at the correct height.
5. For larger frames and to prevent the frame tilting, use two of the FHAD, as you would picture hooks. i

FIGURE 1 shows the side view of the device.
FIGURE 2 shows the front view of the device.
FIGURE 3 shows a break down of the parts.
As shown in Figure I, the device comprises of the main body 1, which is constructed of plastic/metal and has knurled edges 2 (thus not needing the rotating lugs) for easy rotation of the main body.
The main body also consists of a boss 3 located on the front of the main body I for the wire to hang on. The side of the inner diameter of the main body are serrated 4 to lock the spindle 5 in place when rotated.
Figure I also shows the spindle 5, which is also made from plastic/metal. If plastic this can be pressed together when located through the hole 8 in the main body 1, this will form the ends 9, so making spindle 5 and main body I one unit. Through the spindle are holes drilled 6 (one for very small frame devices or two for larger frame devices).
Also shown in Figure I, are the serrations 7 on the outer diameter of the spindle As shown in Figure 2, this shows the front view of the device shown in figure 1.
As shown in Figure 3, this is a break down of the components the FHAD device is constructed from. The parts are: 1. Spindle 5.
2. Main body 1.
Claims (7)
1. A frame height adjusting device which is mounted onto the wall includes a main body with a spindle through the middle so the main body can rotate round the spindle, adjusting the height of the frame.
2. A device as claimed in Claim I where the spindle has one or two holes drilled through it so the device can be secured to the frame.
3. A device as claimed in Claim I where the spindle outer diameter and the main body inner diameter have a ratchet effect (very similar to a cable tie), which when the main body is rotated, locks the main body in position.
4. A device as claimed in Claim I or Claim 3 where the main body has a boss on the front of the device to support the wire from the frame being supported.
5. A device as claimed in any proceeding claim where the main body has knurled edges providing easier rotation of the main body.
6. A device as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from plastic or metal or a combination of these materials.
7. A wall mounted frame height adjusting device substantially as herein described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
