Abstract

A motorised rotary washing line comprises a lower section 3 fixed to the ground, a centre section 2 and an upper section [1, Figure 1] which is formed as a washing line assembly and is fixed to the centre section. The centre section 2 is coupled to the lower section 3 by a coupling 4 that is rotatably driven by a motor 8 and gearbox assembly 7 which are both housed within the lower section 3. Rotation of the motor and gearbox cause the washing line assembly to rotate thus reducing drying times. The motor is preferably a low voltage DC motor. The electrical wiring 9 for the motor may be routed through the lower section 1.

Motorised Rotary Garden Washing Line
Background
The invention relates to a washing line that houses an electrical motor and gearbox that enables the washing line to rotate without the need for wind assistance.
A conventional washing line relies on windy/breezy conditions to aid the clothes drying process through rotation of the line.
This washing line will speed the clothes drying process and also avoid sun bleaching of clothes during dry calm sunny conditions.
Technical Features The washing line'nouses a low voltage DC motor with gearbox which provide angular rotational motion to the upper section via a coupled shaft.
The electrical wiring would be routed through the lower section to an appropriate power source similar to that used for low voltage garden lights.
Figure 1 This illustrates overall the motorised garden washing line.
[1] represents a conventional washing line assembly.
[2] represents a modified centre section which is fixed to the[1] and coupled to [3] and houses the coupling.
[3] is the lower section being the main upright, housing the motor gearbox, coupling and wiring.
Figure 2 This illustrates a section (cutaway) view of [2] and [3] detailing the motor gearbox assembly [7] and [83, and coupling t4]. There are also fixings [5] securing the coupling to the modified centre section [2] allowing it to rotate independently of the lower section [33.
The wiring [9] exits the motor and is routed through the lower section of [3] .

Claims (5)

  1. Claims 1. A conventional rotary washing line fixed into the ground, the
    centre section of the washing line houses an electric motor with a gearbox.
  2. 2. The washing line will rotate without the need of wind assistance.
  3. 3. The drying time of the clothes will be reduced.
  4. 4. The permanent rotation will help to avoid the bleaching of the clothes on sunny calm days.
  5. 5. The speed of the rotation can be adjusted to suit the weather conditions.
