Abstract

A detachable car seat 2 for a baby or a child, that can swivel about a vertical axis when it is attached to a base 3 in a car. The seat has a cushioned seat 2 that is demountable from a circular plate 5 on the base framework 3. The seat further comprises a button 6 to allow the seat to swivel or to lock it into place and an additional button 8 used to attach and detach the seat from the base. There is a further button to enable the seat to be reclined. The base is secured to the car via a seat belt. Clips are provided on the base framework for the belt to clip on to. The seat is additionally provided with an adjustable harness to secure the child, and a carry handle to be used when the seat is detached from the car.

Description

DESCRIPTION
THE SWIVEL CAR SEAT
The Swivel Car Seat is a seat for the car for babies and small children.
Car Seats are well known for babies and small children but they have the disadvantage that they do not swivel giving easy access for putting the baby/child into the car.
The Swivel Car Seat locks into the car by the seat belt fastening through the back of the seat and fastening into the seat belt lock.
The Swivel Car Seat turns from left to right with a single button. To swivel the seat you press the button on the side ofthe seat and the seat will be free to turn. The seat will swivel left to right allowing the seat to be put into the car on the left or the right side. The seat rotates 90% from the left and locks or 90% from the right and locks. The seat will turn towards the open door and will then lock into place allowing no movement of the seat so mum/dad can place the baby/child into the seat without struggling to get into the car at awkward angles. Once the seat is facing the open door it makes it easier to fasten the baby/child into the harness. You then push the button and the seat will be released and will swivel to the forward position and lock into place.
The second button on the side of the seat allows the seat to recline to suit the baby/childs needs. Upright if they want to look out of the window and recline if they are asleep.
The swivel button and the recline/upright button are on both sides of the seat allowing the seat to be placed in either side of the car and still have the same use.
There is a carry handle on the seat for when the seat is removed from the base framework and taken from the car and used as a carry seat.
To remove the whole car seat including the base framework unfasten the seat belt lock in the middle of the car and the whole unit, seat and base framework, can then be removed from the car.
To remove the seat from the circular plate and the base framework you push the button on the front of the seat and pull the seat forward and it will become detached.
The seat harness can be adjusted by pulling the strap for safety and ensuring the baby/child is securely fastened in.
The seat has a lip on the base of the seat that allows it to slide and clip on and of lithe circular plate by pressing the button on the front ofthe seat. By holding the button in it will slide and by releasing the button it will lock.
All the buttons sit flush to the side and the front of the seat so that there are no objects sticking out from the car seat whilst the baby/child is in the seat.
The base framework is made of metal piping. The circular plate is made of metal. The whole framework and circular plate are then completely coated in plastic.

The cushioned car seat 2. sat on the circular plate 5. in the swivel position. The car seat 2. sits on the circular plate 5. and can turn from left to right when the button 6. on the leR/right of the seat is pressed in. When the button 6. is pressed the seat will swivel 90% and then lock into place. To release the seat back to the forward position you press the button 6. again and you swivel the seat back to the forward position and it will lock into place.

Claims (1)

  1. A Swivel Car Seat compromising of a cushioned car seat, a base framework with a circular plate for the seat to be attached to and detached from. A swivel/locking button and a recline/upright button. AISO, there is a button on the front of the seat for attaching and detaching the seat from the circular plate. There is a safety harness and an adjustable strap that can be tightened and loosened for the baby/childs security.
    There is a carry handle for when the seat is removed from the base framework and is taken from the car and used as a carry seat.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim l has a swivel/lock button on the sides of the seat. The seat is locked into the forward position and when the button is pushed and held will allow the seat to swivel 90% left or right and then lock into position. The swivel left or right depends on the side ofthe car you have the seat installed. The seat swivels on a circular plate on the base framework. The Swivel Car Seat is co- operable with the base of the seat and the circular plate to control the movement of the car seat.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 2 has clips on the base framework for the seat belt to be clipped down when the seat belt is put through the back of the car seat fir securing into the seat belt lock.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 3 wherein the catchment means are provided by the circular plate on the base framework and a lip on the bottom of the seat for arresting and releasing the movement of the car seat.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 4 has a button on the side of the seat for the recline/upright position of the seat.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 5 has a button on the front of the seat to allow the seat to attach/detach from the circular plate on the base framework.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 6 has a harness for the security of the baby/child and an adjustable strap to loosen or tighten the harness, The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 7 has a carry handle for when the seat is removed from the base framework and is taken from car and used as a catty seat.
    The car seat as claimed in the proceeding claims is made from, metal, plastic and material.
    A Swivel Car Seat substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-5 of the accompanying drawings.
    Amendments to the claims have been filed as-follows: A Swivel Car Seat compromising a cushioned seating receptacle, a base framework with a circular plate for the receptacle to be attached to and detached from. A swivel/locking button and a recline/upright button. Also, there is a button on the front of the receptacle for attaching and detaching the receptacle from the circular plate.
    There is a safety harness and an adjustable strap that can be tightened and loosened for the babylchilds security. There is a carry handle for when the seat is removed from a base framework and is taken from the car and used as a carry receptacle.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 1 has a swivel/lock button on the sides of the receptacle. The receptacle is locked into the forward position and when the button is pushed and held will allow the seat to swivel 90 degrees left or right and then lock into position. The receptacle swivels on a circular plate on a base framework. The Swivel Car Seat is co-operable with the base ofthe receptacle and the circular plate to control the movement of the receptacle.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 2 has clips on a base framework for a seat belt to be clipped down when a seat belt is put through the back of the receptacle for securing into a seat belt lock.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 3 wherein catchment means are provided by the circular plate on a base framework and a lip on the bottom of the receptacle for arresting and releasing the movement of the receptacle.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 4 has a button on the side of the receptacle for the recline/upright position of the receptacle.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 5 has a button on the front of the receptacle to allow the receptacle to attach/detach from the circular plate on a base framework.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 6 has a harness for the security of the baby/child and an adjustable strap to loosen or tighten the harness.
    The Swivel Car Seat as claimed in claim 7 has a carry handle for when the receptacle is removed from a base framework and is taken from the car and used as a carry receptacle.
    A Swivel Car Seat substantially as described herein with references to figures 1-5 of the accompanying drawings.
