Abstract
A location system is disclosed comprising a transmitter (fig 2), a locating device (fig 3) and a number of fixed UHF stations. The position of the transmitter is determined by triangulation at the fixed stations and location information is sent to the locating device. The locating device may be hand held and may be incorporated into a mobile phone. The position of the locating device may also be determined by triangulation at the fixed stations and the locating device may comprise a display means for indicating the direction and distance to the transmitter from its location. The transmitter may transmit a unique ID signature and may be attached to a child, an animal or items such as keys or documents. The fixed stations may be part of a mobile phone network or may be a dedicated system.
Description
' 2396984 The pathfinder locator The invention relates to a device called
the Pathfinder Locator. It comprises of a locator fig 1 a transmitter fig 2 and a series of radio masts figs. The Pathfinder Locator would be used for locating items ie persons pets and important objects but the primary use would be for child location. By the locator fig 1 giving a direction and distance to the transmitter, hence finding the lost item The Locater fig 1 is a radio transmitter/reciever which can be varies sizes but preferably hand held size so it can be incorporated in a mobile phone but can also be a dedicated set. It would consist of a led display fig1 which would show a distance and a direction to the transmitter fig 2 from that particular locator The transmitter fig 2 is a small device giving off a radio signal. It could be adapted to be worn by a person or a animal or attached to items such as documents or keys. The transmitter fig2 would be in RF contact with the radio masts figs. The radio masts fig 3 would be spread over a large area and give a large coverage. The radio masts fig3 would be in radio contact with the transmitter fig2 and locator figl. By means of trianglation from a number masts it would pinpoint the transmitter fig2 to a small area. It would by the sanie means locate the locator figl and give a direction and distance to the transmitter fig 2 Figl Locator Fig 2 Transmitter Fig 3 Radio Masts
Claims (5)
- Claim 1. The Pathfinder Locator includes a locator,a transmitter and a series of UHF masts. The masts would locate the transmitter by using triangulation and send that information to the locator.
- Claim 2.The Pathfinder Locator as claimed in claim 1 has a locator figl. The locator is of varies sizes but preferably of hand held size so it could be incorporated in a mobile phone, but it can also be a dedicated a set.It would have a display fig 1 giving the direction and distance to the transmitter.
- Claim 3. The pathfinder locator as claimed in claim 1 and 2 has a small transmitter fig 2, giving off a signal which is picked up by a series of UHF masts fig 3.It could be adapted to be attached to virtually anything but the primary use would be child location.
- Claim 4.The Pathfinder Locator as claimed in all previous claims has a series of UHF masts fig 3.These masts would locate the transmitter fig2 by triangulation. They would by the same means locate the locator fig 1 and send that information to the locator, giving a distance and direction of the transmitter fig 2 and hence finding the lost item.
- Claim 5. The Pathfinder Locator as claimed in all previous claims can be incorporated in a mobile phone network or can be a dedicated system.
