A floor covering (2, 14) is provided which includes support members (34), elongate arms (8) and a support surface (4). The elongate arms are connected to the support members at spaced locations and substantially perpendicular thereto. The support surface is provided for the support thereon of a carpet or similar textile material and is typically defined between the elongate arms.
