Abstract
239,610. Automatic Telephone Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Harrison, H. H. June 13, 1924. Receivers; perforated-strip recorders; paperfeeding and driving arrangements; distributor systems.-In a perforated-strip recorder for systems with code elements of unequal length the tape is driven by a pawl and ratchet mechanism in steps corresponding in length to the period of a dot. In accordance with another feature the tape feed in these systems is controlled over a distributor. The punches 11, 12 are preferably staggered so that the holes in the case of a dot are opposite one another, the tape being advanced one step between the operation of the punches. The invention is particularly applicable to the system described in Specification 207,354 in which signals received by relay 22, Fig. 3, are sent alternately into two relays 28, 29 for operating two sets of punching magnets the segments of the divided ring 30 of a distributor being connected alternately to these relays. The electromagnets controlling the ratchet feeds are connected to segments of a second ring equal in length to those of ring 30. The tape feed preferably takes place on release of the armature of magnet 18, Fig. 1.
