Abstract
A percussion capper arrangement, which can also be used as a pellet loader, comprising an adjustable screw follower assembly (having a screw 3, follower 2 and rubber buffer 4) that is capable of holding up to twelve caps 7 or air pellets 8 and are activated by applying pressure to the front portion of a tubular magazine 1, via the user's thumb, to the screw follower assembly in to a forward position. The rear if the magazine 1 has a textured surface 9 which allow the user's fingers to maintain a form grip. The screw follower assembly stops at the end of a cut out channel 5, 6, thereby preventing it from coming out of the magazine 1. The capper arrangement may be made from one or more of materials selected from rubber, plastic or brass and allows easy access to associated nipple cones and prevents caps from undesirably turning when activated.
Description
PERCUSSION REVOLVER CAPPER AND
AIR PELLET LOADER
The invention relates to a percussion revolver capping tool which may also be used as an air pellet loader. Other cappers suffer from the disadvantage that caps are loaded sideways and turn the wrong way to place onto the nipple cones in the rear of the cylinder of the revolver, which are screwed into narrow recesses.
An object of this invention is to provide a capper which allows easy access to each nipple cone which are extremely difficult to seat a cap on with cold, wet greasy fingers or for those who suffer from loss of dexterity.
Accordingly this invention provides a tubular magazine including a screw follower assembly that does not permit the caps to turn when activated.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:-
FIGURE 1 shows the side section view of the capper FIGURE 2 shows a front view of the capper FIGURE 3 shows a top view of the capper No. Detailed Description
1 Tubular Magazine 2 Follower 3 Screw 4 Rubber Buffer 5 & 6 Screw follower stops at end of cut out channel
7 Percussion cap 8 Air pellet 9 Textured Area As shown in Fig. 1 the capper comprises a tubular magazine (1), with a screw follower assembly (3 & 2) to which a rubber buffer (4) is attached. By pushing forward the screw follower assembly (3, 2 & 4) with the thumb a cap (7) is seated onto the nipple cone, similarly an air pellet (8) can be loaded into the chamber of an air rifle.
FIGURE 2 Shows the screw (3) adjusted to increase or decrease the tension of the clamp shaped magazine ( I) to compensate for variations in the diameters of caps (7), due to manufacturing tolerances and to prevent them falling out.
As shown in Fig. 3 the number of caps (7), pellets (8), held in reserve can be seen through the cut out channel that allows the screw follower assembly (3,2 & 4) to move to the rear of the tool to load the caps (7) or pellets (8) base first so that when the screw follower assembly (3,2 & 4) is moved forward to seat the caps (7), load pellets (8) they are pointing in the correct direction as illustrated in Fig. 1. The advantage of the screw (3) been able to adjust the tension of the clamp shaped magazine (1) is that caps (7) are uniformly sized while passing through the magazine to fit securely on the taper of the cones at the correct seating depth e.g. with the internal base of the cap (7) containing the percussion compound in contact with the anvil of the cone so that, it is parallel with the face of the hammer as it strikes.
This screw (3) adjustment feature is important as it is no longer necessary to pinch the rim of the cap (7) between the thumb and forefinger to reduce the diameter to make it fit onto the taper of the cone, which is not only a dangerous practice but may also distort the base of the cap (7) causing a misfire, as it will not be parallel with the anvil of the cone and the face of the hammer.
Claims (7)
1. A percussion revolver capper, that also can be used as a pellet loader.
2. A capper, loader as claimed in claim 1 with screw follower assembly.
3. A capper, loader as claimed in I or 2 where the screw follower assembly is pushed forward to seat caps, load pellets.
4. A capper, loader as claimed in claim 3 where the screw follower assembly is prevented from coming out of the magazine by the stop ends in the cut out channel.
5. A capper, as claimed in any proceeding claim that is also a pellet loader.
6. A capper, as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from brass, rubber or plastic or from a combination of these materials.
7. A capper substantially as herein described illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
