Description
Swimming Cap This invention relates to a swimming cap, in particular a
swimming cap provided with a wig of hair.
Swimming caps are worn by casual swimmers to protect their hair from getting wet, which can spoil some hair styles. Further, swimming caps are worn to prevent other materials, for example chlorine in a swimming pool, or sand in the sea, from damaging the user's hair.
However, swimming caps may not be flattering to wear, because they flatten the user's hair, and can create the appearance of a bald head. It is therefore common for appearance conscious swimmers to venture into the water without a swimming cap.
The present invention is intended to provided a novel approach.
According to the present invention headwear adapted to protect some or all of the user's hair from water during swimming, is provided with head hair.
In a first embodiment the headwear comprises a swimming cap which covers the whole of the head, for use by those who swim under the water. -
In an alternative embodiment, the headwear comprises a band or cap which covers only part of the head, which is for use with those who swim with their head substantially above the water.
The headwear can be provided with synthetic hair, or real hair. The hair can be any colour, length and style. in one construction the headwear is provided with hair which is substantially similar in colour, length and style to the user's hair.
g -2 The headwear can be provided with two layers, a first of which comprises a resilient waterproof layer which is adapted to contain the user's hair and protect it from the water in a known fashion, and a second of which comprises hair attachment means. The two layers can be fastened together in any known way, for example by stitching, or with a non-water soluble glue.
In one embodiment the hair attachment means of the second layer is provided with apertures, through which locks of hair can be threaded, and fastened.
The locks of hair can be attached to the apertures in any known way, for example by stitching it, or gluing locks in place with a non-water soluble glue.
The invention can be performed in various ways, but one embodiment will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawing which is a cross-sectional side view of a swimming cap according to the present invention. As shown in Figure 1 headwear, in the form of a full head swimming cap 1 is provided with head hair 2. The cap 1 comprises a first layer 3 and a second layer 4.
The first layer is constructed from a resilient and water proof rubberised material, and it adapted to contain the user's hair (not shown) . The cap 1 is adapted to prevent the ingress of water to the user's hair, and is provided with an elasticated band 5.
The second layer 4 is attached to the first layer with non-water soluble glue, and is provided with slots 6 and spaces 7. The hair 2 is formed into locks, and threaded through the slots Bland secured in place by knots disposed in the spaces 7.
The hair 2 is substantially the same colour, length and style to the user's.
in use the user dons the cap 1, and ensures that their own hair is contained underneath the first layer 3. The first layer ensures that no water contacts the user's own hair in use.
Thus, headwear is provided which will protect the user's hair, but which will also maintain their appearance.
