Abstract

Cleaning; tinning and galvanizing.-In apparatus for removing tin and terne plates from the grease pot and transferring them to the branning-machine, the plates as they rise from the rolls 4, 4 are engaged by guide bars 11 provided with hook-shaped inner ends 12 which are adjustably and detachably mounted on a slotted bar 14, the ends 15 of which are mounted in slots 16 in plates 17 secured to a transverse bar 18 connecting the side plates 1 of the frame. which is hinged to the grease pot 2. One end 15 of the bar 14 is provided with a handle 19 to raise and lower the plates 11. To effect a fine adjustment of the bars 11 toward or away from the rising plate a depending plate 21 secured to one end 15 of the bar 14 is provided with a tapped hole to receive a thumb-screw 22, the other end of which bears against the bar 18. When the screw 22 is screwed against the bar 18, the bar 14, and with it the guides 11, is turned. the slofs 16 in the plates 17 acting as pivots, and the guides 11 thereby raised. Reverse movement of the screw 22 allows the guides 11 to descend by their own weight. The rolls 4 are driven from the countershaft 3, which by means of a chain 9 drives the shaft carrying the lower guide rollers 8 at a speed slightly in excess of that of the rolls 4, the shafts carrying the rollers 8 and 10 being geared together.
