COVER FOR ELECTRONIC HANDHELD APARATUS
The present invention relates to a cover for an electronic handheld apparatus and, more particularly to such a cover adapted for accommodating 5 any of a variety of electronic handheld apparatus, for example a PDA, mobile phone, etc. An electronic handheld apparatus is usually provided with a protective cover for protection. A protective cover for this purpose is specifically designed subject to the size of the electronic handheld apparatus to be to protected. Because its size is fixed, a protective cover cannot be used for, different electronic handheld apparatus, i.e., different protective covers are required for different electronic handheld apparatus.
The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to 15 provide an electronic handheld apparatus cover, which fits any of a variety of electronic handheld apparatus.
In one aspect the invention is defined in claim1.
In another aspect, the present invention provides a clutch or wallet for electronic handheld apparatus which comprises two hinged cover panels, and so an electronic handheld apparatus holder provided at an inner side of one cover panel for accommodating an electronic handheld apparatus.
According to another aspect of the present invention, a holder for electronic handheld apparatus comprises a track member, two clamping plates respectively coupled to the track member and movable relative to each as other for holding down the electronic handheld apparatus, and spring means connected between the clamping plates for pulling the clamping plates toward each other. In one embodiment the other cover panel (without an electronic handheld apparatus holder) is provided with a plurality of credit pockets for keeping credit cards, business cards, etc.
/ A preferred embodiment of the invention is described below, by way of example only, with reference to Figs. 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings, wherein: Fig. 1 illustrates the outer appearance of an electronic handheld 5 apparatus clutch constructed according to the present invention; and Fig. 2 is a perspective view, in an enlarged scale, of the electronic handheld apparatus holder used in the electronic handheld apparatus clutch shown in Fig. 1.
Referring to Figs. 1 and 2, an electronic handheld apparatus, wallet or to clutch 1 is adapted for accommodating an electronic handheld apparatus 3.
The wallet or clutch 1 comprises a first cover panel 11 and a second cover panel 12 hinged together, and an electronic handheld apparatus holder 2 provided at an inner side of the first cover panel 11 for holding an electronic handheld apparatus 3, which can be, for example, a PDA or mobile phone.
15 Referring to Figs. 1 and 2 again, the electronic handheld apparatus holder 2 comprises a fixed track member 20 fixedly fastened to the first cover panel 11, a first clamping plate 21 and a second clamping plate 22 respectively coupled to the first cover panel 11 and movable relative to each other, and spring means 23 connected between the first clamping plate 21 so and the second camping plate 22 for pulling the first clamping plate 21 and the second clamping plate 22 toward each other. The track member 20 comprises a flat base 201 and two rails 202 arranged in parallel at two sides of the flat base 201. The first clamping plate 21 and the second clamping plate 22 are respectively inserted into the space between the rails 202 from 25 two sides and slidably supported on the flat base 201, each having an outer end terminating in a respective angled stop wall 211 or 221. According to the present preferred embodiment, the spring means 23 is comprised of two springs connected in parallel between the first clamping plate 21 and the second clamping plate 22.
30 Referring to Fig. 1 again, after installation of the electronic handheld apparatus holder 2 in the first cover panel 11, the track member 20 and the
spring means 23 are kept inside the first cover panel 11 and the angled stop walls 211;221 of the clamping plates 21;22 are extended out of the first cover panel 11. When in use, the clamping plates 21;22 are moved apart by hand to widen the space between the angled stop walls 211;221 for the loading of 5 the electronic handheld apparatus 3. After insertion of the electronic handheld apparatus 3 into the space between the angled stop walls 211;221 and releasing of the hand from the electronic handheld apparatus holder 2, the springs 23 immediately pull the clamping plates 21;22 toward each other to hold down the electronic handheld apparatus 3.
to Referring to Fig.1 again, the second cover panel 12 is provided with a plurality of credit card pockets 121 for holding credit cards, business cards, etc. A prototype of an electronic handheld apparatus clutch has been constructed with the features of Figs. 1 and 2. The electronic handheld 15 apparatus clutch functions smoothly to provide all of the features discussed earlier. Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the scope of the invention. Accordingly, ho the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
