Abstract

239,277. Rogers, E. S. June 4, 1924. Variable resistances for controlling the filament currents in wireless apparatus employing two or more valves comprise two or more circular stationary resistance elements 7, 13 connected in circuit with the several filaments respectively and arranged coaxially and spaced apart. The resistances are controlled by coaxial and independently operable nested spindles 14, 27 carrying radial contact arms 8, 16 bearing on the resistance spirals. The spirals consist of wire or strip wound on insulating formers and placed over annular ribs 6, 12 projecting from insulating base plates 1, 10 which are suitably held in position by bolts 11, the upper plate being secured to the panel 5 by a bush 3 and nut 4. The operating spindles are provided with graduated operating knobs 17, 9. The spindles 14, 27 may, if desired, be insulated from each other.
