Abstract
A heat exchanger comprises: an impingement body having a target surface with one or more apertures formed therein; a plurality of first ducts for flow of a first fluid therethrough, the outlets of the first ducts being spaced from the target surface and at least some of the outlets being mis-aligned with the apertures so as to cause impingement of the first fluid on to parts of the target surface spaced from the apertures; one or more flow tubes which extend from respective apertures of the impingement body away from the first ducts; and a flow duct through which the or each flow tube extends for flow of a second fluid over the external surface of the flow tubes(s).
