Abstract

A large printed piece or pieces of material are formed into a tube shape, filled and sealed to create an oversize replica or a wrapper, packet or bag. The material is printed with graphics to resemble the item to be promoted. The filling may be chosen to mimic the contents of the normal wrapper, packet or bag, e.g. to simulate chocolate or crisps.

Description

Oversize packet / wrapper / bag for promotional purposes This invention

relates to an outsize packet / wrapper / bag for use as a promotional item. Packets, wrappers and bags are used in numerous variations for packaging items such as confectionery, snacks and other products for resale. The use of sales aids is common place in retail outlets, there purpose being to capture the attention of a potential purchaser and encourage them to think of that particular product when making their purchase. The more prominent and / or memorable the sales aid the more likely it will be for the purchaser to remember that product.

The equipment used in the production of the normal size packaging is based on high volumes at a conventional size. To build a similar machine to produce oversize items would not be cost effective.

According to this invention there is provision for using one or more large pieces of substrate (de; paper, synthetic paper, polyester, banner grade material, flame retardant material, canvas, vinyl, man made material or natural fibre material), printing a replica of the item to be promoted onto such a substrate and by attaching it to itself by means of a glue or by stitching/stapling producing an oversize replica of the wrapper/packet/bag is produced.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with references to the accompanying drawings in where: Figure 1 shows the finished oversize item looking very similar in appearance to the normal size product.

Figure 2 shows the I piece version printed on, 4, prior to folding onto itself.

Figure 3 illustrates the 1 piece version attached at a side seam, 3.

Figure 4 illustrates the 2 piece version attached at both sides, 3.

Figure 5 illustrates the packet/wrapper/bag attached, 2 at on end.

Once the substrate has been printed on, 4, and attached to at the side or sides, 3, one end is then attached, 2, so as to replicate an open version ofthe finished packet/wrapper/bag. The oversize item can then be filled with a suitable material, again so as to replicate the look of the normal size product ie; something like a chocolate bar would contain a regular rectangular shaped infill whereas something like a packet of crisps would contain irregular shaped infill.

Finally, the second end is sealed, 2, in the same way as the first end.

The oversize packet/wrapper/bag is then ready for use as a unique point of sale/ promotional item.

CIJAIMS

1. A large printed piece (or pieces) of material rolled into a tube shape, joined, filled and sealed in a way to make an oversize replica of a wrapper/packet/bag.

2. A large printed piece (or pieces) of substrate as claimed in claim 1, overlapped and stitched and filled to make an oversize replica of a product in its wrapper, packet or bag.

3. A large printed piece (or pieces) of material as claimed in claims I and 2, wrapped, glued and sealed or stitched at both ends to replicate an oversize version of an item in its wrapper, packet or bag.

4. An oversize wrapper/packet/bag made from a printed material substantially as described herein with reference to figures I to 5 of the accompanying drawings.
