Abstract

239,022. Brookes, F. S. July 29, 1924. Foot - rests, more particularly for pillion riders on motorcycles &c., consist of a longitudinally - extending footboard or platform 7 carried by transverse bars 9 pivoted at 6 to one or more clips 1, 2 secured to the chain stays of the cycle frame, so that the footboard 7 can be swung inwards to an upright position when not in use. The outer member 2 of each clip is formed with side lugs 5 carrying the pivot pin 6, on which are pivotally mounted side lugs on the end of the) bar 3, which mav be of channel section. The footboard is held in the horizontal position by the engagement of the inner ends of the bars 9 with the clip members 2. Springs 11 hold the footboard in the raised position. An upwardly-projecting arm 8 on one of the clip members 1 abuts against the down stay of the machine to prevent the clips from turning on the frame tube.
