Abstract

A riser tensioning device for use on an offshore floating facility includes a buoyancy element (65) and a frame (60). The frame (60) accepts external loads caused by movement of the floating facility and wave and/or current action that would otherwise act on the buoyancy element. The frame (60, 75) can be made positively or neutrally buoyant so that the weight of the frame does not counteract the buoyancy provided by the buoyancy element (65).
