Abstract
A shower waste trap comprising a body having a first chamber into which an inlet extends downwardly from a waste water outlet (2), an outlet (6) from the first chamber said outlet port being disposed at or adjacent to the upper end of the body, characterised in that the first chamber is enclosed by a second chamber wherein the second chamber is provided with an inlet (7) and an outlet (5) such that cold water passing through the second chamber receives heat from waste water passing through the first chamber.
Description
(1) Description - Heat Recovery Shower Waste SYstem.
The invention relates to a shower waste which fits onto a shower tray and waste water passes through the drain.
lot water from the shower rurs outside into the drain and is lost.
My invention recovers some of the heat from the waste water which passes into the outside drain.
This invention provides a way ol'recovering some of that lost heat and returning it back into the cold water supply into the shower, by means of a heat exchanger built into the waste system.
I'he heat recovery unit is made of copper and other metals, which conduct heat e anciently.
Fig. i snt ws a cross sectional Field; ofthe whole shower waste
As shown in Fig. 1 the shower waste comprises of a standard style shower waste, but with a heat exchanger running around the outside of the trap, the cold water feed to the shower passes around the warm water in the waste and recovers some of the heat' raising the temperature of the cold feed to the shower unit. The heat exchanger has baffles running around the trap in a spiral pattern which directs the water evenly around the heat exchanger strengthens the unit and helps to increase the surface area in contact with the cold water.
The waste water outlet (6) would be fitted with a compression fitting which could fit onto a star card waste pipe.
Cold water inlet (7) and cold water outlet (5) would be in copper tube, which could be connected onto with push fit flexible hoses which incorporate isolation valves.
