Abstract

A floor material comprises an intermediate lamination layer 2 bonded to a printed layer 4,5, by adhesive 3, the resultant assembly being sandwiched between backing layer 1 and cover layer 6 and then dry laminated by passage through heated rollers. Primer layers 7,8 may be employed to aid interlayer adhesion. Layers 1, 2 and 6 may comprise an ionomer or a blend of ethylene and ethylene (methyl)acrylate copolymers. Layer 2 may alternatively comprise 1 or more layers of iononmer or ethylene/ethylene (methyl)acrylate copolymers, laminated to a layer of linear low density polyethylene. Printed layer 4,5 may also comprise a sheet of ionomer or a blend of ethylene and ethylene (methyl)acrylate copolymers, with urethane or acrylic based inks applied thereto. One or more of the layers also include a UV stabiliser, eg. a benzatriazole or hindered amine.
