Abstract

238885 Daugart (nee Kroll) F 20 Aug 1924 [Convention date] Darning.-Sheds of warp thread through which weft threads are passed by means of a needle are formed by a device in the form of a triangular prism having alternate deep and shallow grooves h, i in two of its edges each deep groove in one edge extending to a corresponding shallow groove in the other edge. The warp threads j, j<SP>1</SP> are caused to lie in these grooves and by turning the appliance from side to side are raised and lowered alternately in two sets or sheds a threaded needle being passed between these and along longitudinal grooves o in the appliance after every turn. The appliance may be made of bent sheet metal as shown in Fig. 7.
