Abstract

A surface is covered with leather tiles by affixing the leather tiles to substrates in the form of panels and connecting the panels to each other, preferably by means of separate slabs or biscuits which are pushed into confronting grooves provided centrally of the thickness of the panel edges.

method for the creation of a tiled leather floor Can be fitted anywhere -can be easily dismantled and moved.
Detailed structure A wooden base tile is made from waterproofmarine ply/; vfDF with 10-llS mm thickness.
I.eather is glued to the top of the wooden tile.
Each edge ot each tile incorporates a central groove of 4mm.
Ihe grooves allow the tiles to be seamlessly fitted together using small wooden biscuits that fit into the grooves and hold the tiles firmly in place.
Ihe concept can be applied to any floor covering and any size of tile.

1. A method of tiling a surface with leather tiles, comprising asp wing the leather tiles to substrates in the form of panels and connecting the panels to each other.
2. A method according to Claim 1, wherein each tile is rectangular and each panel is rectangular.
3. A method according to Claim I or Claim 2, wherein each tile is square and each panel is square.
4. The method of any proceeding claim wherein each panel carries a plurality of the leather tiles.
5. The method of any preceding claim, wherein each panel carries four leather tiles.
6. The method of any preceding claim, Wherein the tiles are glued to the panels.
7. The method of any preceding claim, wherein the panels are interconnected by tongue and groove connections.

8. A method according to Claim 7, wherein the edges of the panels are provided with grooves and the tongues are in the form of separate tablets or slabs pushed into the confronting grooves of adjacent panels.
9. A method according to any one of Claims 3 - 8, Therein the tiles measure 300mm by 300mm.
10. A method according to any preceding claim, wherein the panels are of wood.
11. The method of Claim 10, wherein the panels are oJplywood.
12 A method according to Claim!O or Claim 11, wherein the panels are oJmarine ply.
13. A method according to any preceding claim, Wherein the panels are from 10 to 18 mm thick.
14. A method according to any one of Claims 8 - 13, Therein the grooves are 4mm t ice.
15. A method according to am! one of Claims 8 -14, Wherein the grooves are provided centrally oJthe thickness of the panel edges.

16. A method according to any preceding claim wherein the leather tiles are from 2 to 3 mm thick.
17. A surfacing boardfor carrying oust the method of any preceding claim, comprising a panel provided with leather tiles on one face and grooves at its edges so that adjacent panels can be interconnected by separate slabs or tablets pushed into the confronting grooves of panels.
18. A floorboard substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying draftings.
