Abstract

A portable powered hedge trimmer includes a remote power source or motor 1, a handle 5, cutting blades 4 and a means for transferring drive 2. Additional embodiments include interchangeable devices such as a chainsaw or drill.

Reduced Back Strain Hedge Trimmer Description of problem High-powered hedge trimmers have to have heavy motors, this can lead to premature fatigue for the operator. Low powered hedge trimmers often do not have the power to cut through thicker branches or run long cutter blades.
Hedge trimmers are often used with the operator at full reach. If the weight of the hand held part of the device was reduced this would put less strain on the operator and could enable one-handed operation.
Solution to problem Mount the motor remote from the blade in order to reduce the weight held in the hand of the operator, the motor could be mounted on the operators back (like a back pack), or on the ground.
Features of the Primary feature of the invention is the concept of invention mounting the motor remote from the blade in order to reduce the weight of the machinery that the operator is holding in bis/her hands.
The device is portable.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1 A hedge trimmer of which the primary feature of the invention is mounting the source of drive (motor) for the blades remote from the blade in order to reduce the weight of the machinery that the operator is holding in his/her hands.
  2. 2 A hedge trimmer as claimed in claim 1 the source of drive or motor would be located in a position where its weight put less strain on the back of the operator.
  3. 3 A hedge trimmer as claimed in claim 1 with the drive from the motor to the blades is to be arranged in such a way as to allow the motor and cutting blades to be capable of being orientated independently of each other.
  4. 4 A hedge trimmer of which its cutting blades could be removed and replaced with other interchangeable devices for example a chain saw or drill that would use used the same motor and drive.
