Abstract
An imitation electric fire comprises a chassis 7 having a lamp, and a motor 9 driving a wire 11 with an extension arm 13 which is connected to fabric 16. The lamp illuminates the fabric 16 and the motor 9, wire 11 and extension arm 13 impart a back and forth movement to produce a flame like effect across the fabric 16. The chassis may be a fire body (8, fig 2). For extra colour a blue filter maybe provided so that the bottom of the fabric 16 has a blue flame effect. A glass panel (fig 6) made of different colours or finishes may be provided. The arm 13 may be secured at the bottom centre of the fabric 16. The fabric 16 may be trimmed into different shapes to produce different effects.

Flame Effect for electric fire This invention relates to a simulated Flame Effect for electric fires.
The idea of this invention is to overcome the noise from existing flame effects used in electric fires to date.
According to the present there is provided a chassis for the invention to be mounted and few moving parts to make the flame effect move and therefore give the desired flame effect.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with referer\ce to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the total flame effect within the chassis ready for installation into the main electric fire. The chassis can be substituted for parts built into the electric fire to make the same effect.
Figure 2 shows the chassis or electric fire body for the effect to fit into them.
Figure 3 shows the method of how the fabric is suspended from the top of the fire opening with the attached tie adhered from the centre of the base of the fabric to the motor spindle.
Figure 4 shows the motor mounted onto the chassis/fire body with tie in position on the motor spindle. Figure 5 shows the lamp and holder in position to illuminate the fabric.
When the motor is switched on the spindle rotates and pulls the fabric to and fro to give a flame like action. The electric lamp illuminates the fabric from the front underside. For extra colour, a filter may be added with a strip of blue to give the flame effect a slight blue to the base of the fabric. This gives the moving fabric a more realistic flame modelling.
Figure 6 shows the glass front panel which can be made in different colours or finishes to provide the desired effect for the illuminated moving fabric.
Refering to the drawing the flame effect comprises of a chassis 7 or a total built in fire body 8.
A motor 9 is fitted onto a bracket 10.
The motor spindle is fitted with an extension clip and special bent wire 11. fitted over the wire is a push on washer and nylon washer 12. An arm 13 is slotted over the metal wire 11 and a further nylon washer and top push on washer is fitted 14.
A bar 15 with the relevent fabric 16 is fitted in place over the Chassis 7 or onto the main fire body 8 at the top of the fire flame opening.
The arm 13 is secured onto the centre of the bottom of the fabric 17.
When the motor rotates with the bent wire extension 11, the arm 13 moves back and forth moving the fabric 16 which makes the fabric produce flame like shapes across the width of the fabric.
The fabric 16 can be trimmed into different shapes of cut lines as the desired effects are required.
Claims (4)
- colts 1 A flame like effect within a manufacturers chassis or main firebody using a motor driven unit and wire elbow crank with an extension arm moving fabric to give a aflame like movement.
- 2 A motor mounted on a chassis or main fire body as in claim 1 with a fabric materiaal which moves in flame like ways when extension arms move back and forth.
- 3 A motor, chassis or electric fire body and wire elbow crank mounted on the motor with extension arm attached to the fabric base which moves in flame like ways when the glass and electric lamp is fitted and illuminated.
- 4 The claim for a patent is for the items as in the claims above but not the manufacturers own main chassis/electric fire body, lamp and glass.
