Abstract

A cool blanket 1 comprising a quilted structure, mains electrical power lead 2, electronics box 3 and a variable temperature control thermostat 4. Preferably the outer coating of the blanket 1 is waterproof and washable. The blanket 1 may be filled with a heat dispersing gel, and the secondary regulating electronics of the cooling system is contained within the quilted pockets and isolated by the gel. The electrical connector 2 between the electronics box 3 and blanket 1 may also be waterproof. For cooling the human body, for example hospital patients, in the car or at home.

COOL BLANKET This invention relates to a blanket of the type, which can provide a cooling capability, which includes a thermostat to enable a variable cooling effect. The blankets will be of various sizes and shapes to suit the various applications environments.

The cool blanket will provide comfort to the human body where a cooling effect is required. In cases where the human body needs to be cooled and kept cool, the cool blanket will achieve this. In general such cases as intensive care patients, patients in general hospital beds and infant care whereby the patient needs to be cooled gradually and maintained in a comfortable cooling environment. The blanket will also be utilised in non-hospital circumstances for the cooling in car seats and for at house comforting of menopausal women.

The cool blanket will provide an immediate cooling effect that is both lasting and controllable in a variety of circumstances and situations.

Accordingly, this invention provides a cooling blanket including a mains electrical plug, a mains electrical connecting lead, and an electronics control box with variable control thermostat for the means of temperature regulation and control to the main blanket. The blanket is waterproof and washable. The blanket is of a quilted waterproof material with heat dispersing gel filling. The blankets size and shape will be determined by the use thereof.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which :- Figure 1 shows the perspective of the blanket and its associated parts.

Figure 2 shows a cross section of the general construction of the blanket.

As shown in figure 1 the cool blanket comprises of a quilted blanket 1 with each pocket of quilt containing heat dispersing gel filling and electronics. Attached to the blanket is the mains electrical power lead 2 and the control electronics box 3 with variable temperature control thermostat 4 and mains electrical power plug 5.

As shown in figure 2 is the cross section of the blanket showing the waterproof construction material 1 and the heat dispersant gel filling 2 with internal electronics 3.

1. CLAIMS 1. The cool blanket comprising a quilted cool blanket, mains electrical power lead, electronics box and variable temperature control thermostat form the means to provide variable cooling for the blanket.
2. 2. A cool blanket as claimed in claim 1 wherein the outer coating of the blanket is fully waterproof and washable.
3. 3. A claim as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2 wherein the inner filling of the blanket is by heat dispersing gel.
4. 4. A claim as claimed in claim 3 wherein the secondary regulating electronics of the cooling system is contained in the blanket quilted pockets and isolated by the non conductive gel
5. 5. A cool blanket as claimed in claim 1 wherein the electrical connection between electronics box and blanket is made by a wet mate able and waterproof connector.
