Golf cups for holes; lawn-tennis and like nets. -Relates to a golf hole liner combined with a tennis-net adjuster and comprises a tubular iron liner 1, Fig. 1, a cup-shaped base 2 provided; with a projection 3 and with wedge-shaped slots 8, and a circular cast-iron stopper or closing member 5 having a conical lower portion 7 and being provided with a taper aperture 9 for the reception of a chain 10 which hooks on to the tennis net. The slots 8 prevent accumulation of foreign matter upon the upper end of the base 2. Apertures 4 prevent the accumulation of water within the base. A coloured link on the chain, showing on the ground level, indicates when the net is at the correct height. When the device is used for putting the closing member 5 is removed and the chain is wound round the central portion of the tennis net to hold it in the raised position. In a modification, the closing member 5, instead of fitting the mouth of the hole, is of conical formation, and a flanged rubber cover having a central aperture for the passage of the chain completes the closure. In a further modification, the closing member, in the shape of a frustrum of a cone, is provided on its. upper surface with a U- shaped eye to which the chain is affixed. In a further modification, the bass and liner are integral and perforations are provided therein for the accommodation of securing nails. The chain is attached to a cross-bar at the top of the closing member. In another modification, Fig. 8, the chain-retaining member 5 is located at the bottom of the hole, and the upper edge of the hole is retained in shape by a sheet metal structure 25 which fits into a recess in the member 5.
