Abstract
A gate valve (F) is shut off automatically after a preset pre-determined continuous flow of water has passed through a rotary wheel, such as a water wheel (L) which has an associated counter (J), which may use optical, mechanical or electrical means to register the flow of water through the valve, and a silicon chip (I) is programmed to instruct an actuator (D) to close off the valve, for example in the case of an escape of water due to failed components, neglect or abuse, preventing large volumes of water being discharged. A reset button (A) reopens the valve. The valve has a watertight compartment housing electrical and mechanical components. Inlet (K) and outlet (G) ports may be sized to suit standard bore pipe connections.
Description

CONTINOUS FLOW RESTRICTER VALVE Description The continuous flow restrictor valve will allow water to pass through and when reaching it pre-determined limit the supply will shut off automatically, the valve will recognize intermittent use and will shut down only when the continuous flow of water, has passed through the valve (what ever the pre-determined limit is).
Water passes through the valve over a rotating wheel, linked to a counter measuring how much water passes through. The counter can be optical, electrical or mechanical to register the flow. Once the water wheel has determined the continuous pre set volume of water the programmed silicone chip instructs the actuator to close off the valve, a reset button opens the valve to resume normal supply.

Claims (1)
- CONTINOUS FLOW RESTRICTER VALVE Claim The invention is principally for the domestic housing market but can be further developed for commercial use. There are no automatic shut off valves designed to prevent continuous flow or escape of water by the means of failed components, neglect, or abuse.Should there be an escape of water by whatever means, the occupant has to manual shut the supply off at the stop tap. The continuous flow restrictor valve prevents large volumes of water being discharged. The maximum amount of water which is drawn of the supply at any one time in normal domestic use is approximately 1/2 meter cube of water. The restrictor valve can be set at whatever pre-determined limit is required, for instance in domestic use one cubic meter of water, when the continuous use of more than 1 meter cube is used the supply closes automatically.
