Abstract
A flower pot 1 is fitted with a moulded support 5 attached to the pot by an arch supporting shoulder 4. The support has a central groove and extends to a point which is in line with the base of the pot. In use the pot is designed to fit over the rim of a larger pot with the support pushing into the planting medium. The pot is moulded with a concave surface which allows it to rest evenly around the rim of the host pot. The pot has drainage holes and may be fitted with a detachable saucer (1, fig 2).
Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
IMPROVEMENT IN AND RELATING TO FLOWER POT
OBJECTIVE :- THE POT WILL ALLOW THE END USER TO CREATE MORE PLANTING SPACE, AND EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF FLOWERS AND PLANTS WITHIN THE EXISTING SPACE, HOWEVER LARGE OR SMALL.
PROBLEM SOLVING :- GARDENERS, WHATEVER THEIR EXPERTISE WILL ALWAYS EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT COLOURS AND VARIETY OF SPECIES. IF A JARDINIER IS PLANTED UP AND THEY ARE UNHAPPY WITH THE RESULT, THE PLANT IS DUG UP AND REPLANTED THUS DISTURBING THE ROOTS.
IMPROVE FLOWER POT (IFP) ALLOWS THE INDIVIDUAL PLANTS TO BE PLANTED, THEN SWAP AROUND UNTIL THE DESIRED EFFECT IS REACHED.
IFP CAN BE ESPECIALLY USEFUL IN CONFINED SPACES, SUCH AS BALCONIES AND PATIOS.
WHAT IT DOES :- IFP IS PLANTED UP LIKE AN ORDINARY FLOWER POT. THE UNIQUE SUPPORT IS FIRMLY INTRODUCE INTO THE COMPOST OR SOIL NEAR THE EDGE OF THE LARGER POT. THIS ALLOWS IFP TO ANCHOR ITSELF FIRMLY ON THE OUTSIDE RIM OF THE HOST POT.
IMPORTANT FEATURE : THE SUPPORT RUNS THE FULL LENGTH OF THE POT WITH A CENTRAL GROOVE (V SHAPE) RUNNING DOWN THE SUPPORT TO ALLOW EASY SLICING MOVEMENT INTO THE COMPOST OR SOIL. THE SUPPORT AND POT IS ONE UNIT, NON-DETACHABLE. THE SUPPORT IS JOINED TO THE POT BY AN ARCH SHOULDER ABOUT 5cm WIDE TABERING DOWN TO A POINT AT THE BASE OF THE POT. THE GAP BETWEEN SUPPORT AND POT IS APPROXIMATELY 4cm WIDE. THE POT WILL BE MADE FROM HARD PLASTIC. A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS IN WHICH :- FIGURE 1 SHOWS A SIDE VIEW OF THE WHOLE POT.
FIGURE 2 SHOWS A SIDE VIEW OF THE WHOLE SAUCER.
FIGURE 3 SHOWS THE END PRODUCT, A LARGE HOST POT WITH HOOK POTS (I. F. P. ) MOUNTED AROUND RIM.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
IMPROVE FLOWER POT.
FULL DESCRIPTION :-
AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1 THE POT 1 WILL BE MADE FROM HARD PLASTIC. SIZE 17cm x 17cm. CIRCLING THE POT 1 IS A PROTRUDING FRINDGE RIM 2. A CURVE 3, INDENTED AT THE BACK WILL ALLOW THE POT 1 TO REST EVENLY ON THE END USER'S OWN HOST POT.
ARCH SHOULDER, 4 INITIALLY WILL BE MANUFACTURED ABOUT 5cm WIDE FOR STANDARD POTS.
HOWEVER THE SHOULDER 4 CAN BE EXTENDED TO ACCOMMODATE LARGER AND THICKER RIM HOST POTS. THE SUPPORT 5 IS JOINED TO THE ARCH SHOULDER 4 AND DESCENDS DOWNWARD ENDING IN A POINT 6 AT BASE.
A GROOVE 7 RUNS THROUGH THE FULL LENGTH OF SUPPORT 5 THIS IS TO ALLOW EASY MOVEMENT THROUGH THE HOST COMPOST OR SOIL.
DRAINAGE HOLES 8 ALLOWS EXCESS WATER TO RUN THROUGH ACCOMPANYING THE POT IS A SAUCER.
AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2 THE SAUCER. THIS WILL BE MADE FROM A MORE FLEXIBLE PLASTIC BUT EQUALLY ROBUST. IT WILL BE A SNUG FIT ABOUT 2em DEEP 1, TO HOLD SOME EXCESS WATER THE END-USER WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO SNAP THE SAUCER ON TO CONSERVE WATER OR TAKE IT OFF TO ALLOW QUICK DRAINAGE.
AT PRESENT STANDARD POTS, ONCE THEY ARE OFF A FIRM SURFACE AIR CIRCULATES UP THROUGH THE DRAINAGE HOLES AND QUICKLEY DRIES OUT THE COMPOST. THE SAUCER WILL REDUCE THIS.
ONCE PLANTED UP THE PLANTED UP THE PLANTS AFTER CARE WILL BE AS LIKE ANY OTHER FLOWER POT.
THE POT ITSELF WILL ALLOW THE END-USER TO MAXIMISE THEIR PLANTING SPACE AND REARRANGE PLANTS MORE EASILY.
