Abstract

The vehicle anti-theft device uses a radio receiver and decoder, as part of the circuit. Each module has its own PIN, and using a standard telephone, operates the unit. The number supplied, followed by the PIN and Code, is entered in the telephone to activate the unit. Once the module receives the signal, data is fed through a diode D1 and R1, used to protect the module from any feedback. This data will then switch on TR1, passing a current to RL1, and close the contacts RL1A, and feed the LED via R2. The LED will now illuminate to show that device is activated, and that a heavy relay RL2 has been switched on. The contacts of RL2A will now be closed, and the vehicle fuel pump cut off. (See Figure 1). Activation takes approximately 30 seconds, deactivation uses the same procedure, with a different code.

DEFENDER DESCRIPTION THE MODULE The Defender uses a module as part of the circuit. This is a radio receiver and decoder, and is licence exempt. Employing the use of an existing pager system with world wide coverage. Each module has its own personal pin number ; using a standard DTMF telephone operates the unit. All that is required is to enter the telephone number supplied, followed by the personal pin, and the code when asked, to activate or deactivate as required. The cost of the cat ! to the user is 22 pence, this is charged to the telephone or mobile used.
THE MAIN CIRCUIT Once the module receives the signal. Data is fed through a diode Dl and Rl, used to protect the module from any feed back. This data will then switch on TRI, passing a
current to RLI, and close the contacts RLIA, and feed the LED via R2. The LED will now illuminate to show that Defender is activated, and that a heavy relay RL2 has been switched on. The contacts of RL2A. Will now be dosed, and the vehicle fuel pump cut off TIME DELAY.
Once the telephone call has been made the average time to active is thirty seconds plus five seconds for the vehicle to be starved of fuel. The vehicle will now come to a gradual halt and is now immobilised the distance depends on the speed of the vehicle at the time of activation. The only way that the vehicle can be re started is by a further telephone call entering the pin number, and the code to turn off the unit. Again the time delay is an average of thirty seconds.
The telephone number and the pin number remain the same for activating or deactivating.
The code is different for deactivating to activating.
TECHNICAL DATA Supply Voltage 9v min. 30 V max.
Supply Current 13. mA. Standby.
Supply Current 500 mA. Active Operating frequency 137 MHz
