Abstract
A glove, which may be worn by goalkeepers, has an impact absorbing latex layer 12 on the palm and also on the back, the latex layers being formed in one piece, the layers meeting at an edge fold 14 in an edge region of the glove. The latex layer on the back of the glove may have projections 15 extending over the fingers. Also, an opening 16 may be may be formed in the latex layer on the back of the glove.

SPORTS GLOVE
The invention relates to a sports glove, particularly but not exclusively a goalkeeper's glove, having a latex layer on the palm and an impact-absorbing layer on the back, the palm and the back meeting along an edge region of the glove.
In a known goalkeeper's glove of this type, the latex layer provided on the palm extends over the entire palm region and over the entirety of the four fingers and the thumb of the palm part. The latex layer is secured by a seam in the edge region, as an extension of the little finger. In the edge region, a side part is provided which is held on one side by the seam of the latex layer and on the other side by a seam which secures the impact- absorbing layer in the edge region. The impact-absorbing layer comprises an impact- absorbing material, namely foamed plastic, and extends over only part of the back of the glove. A base layer of plastic, to the surface of which the impact-absorbing layer is applied, extends over the entire back of the glove. This arrangement makes it necessary to have the side part, the two seams holding the side part and the foamed plastic of the impact-absorbing layer, which makes the manufacturing process more complex.
An object of the invention is to provide a sports glove of the initially mentioned type which is easier to manufacture with respect to the formation of the edge region.
The present invention provides the sports glove of Claim 1 or 6. The glove according to the invention is characterised in that the latex layer of the palm region merges in one piece into the impact-absorbing layer of the back region via an edge fold in the edge region, the edge fold and the impact-absorbing layer of the back region also being formed as a latex layer.
Consequently, a stitched-in side part of the prior glove is replaced by the fold, which forms a strip integrally connecting the latex layer of the palm region and the latex layer of the back and in the edge region separating the palm and the back. Securing seams are unnecessary owing to the one-piece formation. The layer which comprises an impact-

absorbing material now also comprises latex, with the result that foamed-plastic sheeting is unnecessary in this respect for manufacturing the glove.
The edge fold formed by the latex layer ordinarily extends from the little finger to a wrist region. The latex layer can comprise a supporting layer and a latex material layer.
The latex layer extends e. g. over the entire surface of the palm, the four fingers and the thumb, e. g. it itself forms the whole palm of the glove, i. e. it is not arranged parallel to an additional inner base layer. In addition to the impact-absorbing property, the latex layer can have a non-slip property, which is also effective on the back of the glove. A base layer, to which the latex layer is applied, is ordinarily provided on the back of the glove and extends over the entire back of the glove. The latex layer may extend over all or only part of the back of the glove.
It is particularly expedient and advantageous if a little finger is formed by a palm part and a back part which are directly stitched together along the edge region of the little finger as an extension of the edge region of the glove, i. e. there is no requirement for a separate side part for the little finger to be stitched in.
It is particularly expedient and advantageous if the latex layer on the back of the glove also extends over the back of the fingers. It is advantageous if the latex layer on the back of the glove provides impact-absorbing and non-slip material on the backs of the fingers.
It is particularly expedient and advantageous if the latex layer on the back of the glove has an opening which is surrounded on all sides by the latex layer. A separate piece, e. g. comprising foamed plastic, can be applied to a base layer in the region of this opening.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings, wherein: Fig. 1 shows the outer side of a goalkeeper's glove; Fig. 2 shows the inner side of the goalkeeper's glove according to Fig. 1; and
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Fig. 3 shows a latex layer cut-out, which has been flattened out, as provided for the goalkeeper's glove according to Fig. 1.
The goalkeeper's glove according to the drawings comprises an outer part 2 according to Fig. 1 and an inner part 3 according to Fig. 2, and a wrist region 1. The outer part 2 forms four fingers 4 and a back region 5. The inner part 3 forms four fingers 4, a palm region 6 and a thumb 7. The outer part 2 and the inner part 3 are connected in the region of the index finger and the thumb by a stitched-in side part 8, which also forms the thumb 7 on the outer side. In the region of the four fingers 4, the outer part 2 and the inner part 3 are connected by stitched-in gussets 9. Whereas the inner part 3 does not have a base layer, the outer part 2 has a base layer 10 extending over the back region 5. In the case of the little finger 4, the outer part and the inner part are directly stitched together along the outward-facing side 11 of the hand without an interposed side part.
A latex layer cut-out 12 is provided and is shown flat in Fig. 3. The cut-out 12 forms part of the outer part 2 and of the inner part 3 and forms an edge fold 14 in an edge region 13. The latex layer cut-out 12 forms the entirety of the inner part 3, i. e. the palm region, the four fingers and the thumb. It also forms part of the outer part 2 in that it partially covers the base layer 10 provided on the back region 5 and has projections 15 extending over the little finger and the index finger. In the outer part 2, the fingers 4 comprise separate finger pieces 18. In the outer part 2, the latex layer has an opening 16 in which is arranged a piece 17 fixed to the base layer 10.
