Abstract

A cleaning implement for personal use after use of the toilet, which comprises a body 10 acting as a container of cleaning fluid and formed with a recess 16 on the lower half to receive a disposable cleaning pad 20. The upper half of the body 10 is squeezable so that liquid soap or other cleaning fluids are discharged through holes 15, located at either sides of the recess 16, on to the disposable pad 20, which is releasably attached on to the recess 16 by means of catch 18 and a releasing button 19. A leaf spring 13 is provided on the floor of the recess 16 to urge the pad out of the recess once the retaining catch is released.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
PERSONAL CLEANSING IMPLEMENT The present invention relates to an implement for personal cleaning of one's body after use of the toilet.
Personal body cleaning, after use of the toilet, proves difficult for those who, through age, arthritis or disability, have limited dexterity of the hands.
I have now devised an implement which alleviates such difficulties.
In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a cleaning implement which comprises a body formed with a recess to receive a disposable cleaning pad, the body having an interior compartment for receiving body-cleaning fluid and a portion of the body being squeezable for discharging fluid from said compartment onto said pad.
Preferably the body of the implement is generally elongate and formed adjacent one end with the recess to receive the cleaning pad.
Preferably the body of the implement is generally flat and the pad-receiving recess is formed in a front side of the body.
Preferably the opposite sides of the recess are formed with orifices through which the cleaning fluid is discharged onto the pad.
Preferably the pad is retained in the recess of the body by means of a catch, which is retractable for releasing the pad.
Preferably a spring is provided on the floor of the pad-receiving recess, arranged to urge the pad out of the recess, for disposal, once the retaining catch is released.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be devised by way of example only and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which : FIGURE 1 is an isometric view of an implement in accordance with the present invention, shown with its cleaning pad removed;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
FIGURE 2 is a front view of the implement; and FIGURE 3 is another isometric view of the implement, showing the manner in which cleaning fluid is, in use, sprayed onto the cleaning pad.
Referring to the drawings, there is shown an implement for personal body cleansing after use of the toilet, the implement comprising a generally flat, elongate body 10, which is slightly curved from one end to the other. The body 10 is hollow and, in use, contains a quantity of soap or other bodycleaning fluid, which is introduced into the body through a port 12 at one end, the port 12 being closed by a cap 14.
The body 10 has a portion lOb adjacent its opposite end, the front of which is formed with a generally rectangular recess 16, arranged to receive a complementary-shape pad 20.
This pad is retained within the recess 16 by a catch 18 which engages a backing plate 22 of the pad, at its inner end: the catch 18 may be released by depressing an actuator button 19 thereof, which lies to the opposite side of a transverse partition wall 17 at the end of the recess 16.
The opposite side walls of the recess 16 are formed with a series of orifices 15, communicating with the hollow interior of the body 10. The end portion lOa of the body is formed of soft deformable rubber material: by gripping and squeezing this portion of the body, jets of the cleaning fluid are sprayed out of the orifices 15 and across and onto the front surface of the pad 20.
On each occasion of use, a fresh pad 20 is fitted into the recess 16 of the body 10 of the implement: the end portion lOa of the body 10 is squeezed to spray cleaning fluid onto the pad 20. The user then uses the implement, wiping his or her body by means of the outer surface of the pad 20.
The soiled pad 20 is then ejected from the implement, by depressing the activator button 19 to retract and so release a leaf spring 13 on the catch 18: the bottom of the recess 16 then urges the pad out. The pad may be replaced by a fresh,

a fresh, dry pad and the implement then used for drying the body by means of the fresh pad.
