Abstract

A box striker plate 10, for improving door security is fixed flush to a door standard 13 on three sides by counter sink screws 20. The striker boxes 11 and 12 can be flexible in size to accommodate various types of mortice locks. An anti-burglar angle bar 15 is situated on the rim lock striker plate 10 to prevent access to the rim lock.

DESCRIPTION.
DOOR SECURITY STRIKER PLATE.
THE INVENTION RELATES TO A BOX STRIKER PLATE FOR USE ON EXTERNAL DOORS.
IT IS DESIGNED TO FIT ROUND THE DOOR STANDARD ON THREE SIDES.
THIS STRIKER PLATE WILL HELP TO PREVENT THE INNER EDGE OF THE DOOR STANDARD FROM BREAKING AWAY WHEN EXCESSIVE PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR.
THE ESSENTIAL FEATURE OF THIS INVENTION IS ITS STRENGTH, WHICH COMES FROM ITS WIDTH, BREADTH AND THICKNESS, ALSO THAT THE STRIKER BOX CAN BE FLEXIBLE IN SIZE, TO TAKE EITHER A BRITISH STANDARD MORTICE SASH LOCK AS WELL AS A MORTICE DEADLOCK, EXTERIOR DOOR STANDARDS CAN VARY SLIGHTLY IN WIDTH, SO BY MAKING THE STRIKER PLATE TWO CENTMETRES LESS THAN THE NORMAL FIFTEEN CENTIMETRES TO COVER FOR ANY VARIATION IN THE WIDTH, THE DIFFERANCE BEING MADE UP WITH A WOOD PACKING PIECE, ON THE RIM LOCK STRIKER PLATE AN ANGLE BAR IS FITTED IN A POSITION TO PREVENT ANYONE FROM USING A TRADE TOOL, ie A METAL SHIM OR A SAW BLADE TO FORCE OPEN THE RIM LOCK, WHEN IT IS IN OPERATION.
THE BOX STRIKER PLATE SHOULD BE MADE OF BRASS OR STEEL, WITH A GAUGE THICKNESS OF NO LESS THAN 2.5 MILLIMETRES AND RECESSED INTO THE DOOR STANDARD FLUSH WITH ITS FACE, AND FIXED WITH COUNTER SINK SCREWS.

CLAIMS.
1 A DOOR BOX STRIKER PLATE, FORMED TO FIX ON TO A DOOR STANDARD ON THREE SIDES.
2, ADOOR BOX STRIKER PLATE AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 FORMED TO ACCOMMODATE BOTH BRITISH STANDARDS MORTICE DEADLOCK, MORTICE SASH AND RIM LOCKS.
3, A BOX STRIKER PLATE AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1 OR CLAIM 2 WHICH IS MADE FROM BRASS OR STEEL.
4, A BOX STRIKER PLATE SUBSTANTIALLY AS HEREIN DESCRIBED IN THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS.
