Abstract
The hanger arms 17,22 pivot to collapse downwardly towards each other, their movement being co-ordinated via gears 23,24 and gear segments 14,19. The arms are locked in an open position by toothed levers 13,18 engaging toothed tracks 4,5, and released by button 28 on the circular hook housing 1 which encloses the gears and locking mechanism and also supports the pivot and gear axles 8,9.

FOLDABLE CLOTHES HANGER This invention, the stethoscope shaped Foldable Clothes Hanger, relates to a clothes hanger to support and
preserve the original shape and bod) of garments of different neck sizes, the folded position of this hanger conveniently enables the user to msert the arms, of the hanger, into the neck of the garment and be opened so that the garment can be hanged easily and effective !) Current clothes hangers are, in some ways. inflexible and not user-friendly with gannents that vary in neck span sizes, in particular. Although such hangers are well known, they can be difficult to use with T-siurts. pullovers. children clothes or any other kind of garment with smaller neck span sizes The object of this invention is to provide a Foldable Clothes Hanger, in Its folded position. whrch can easily be inserted into the neck of the garment regardless of variation of neck span size and then with minimum effort the arms of the hanger can be opened and clamped to hang garments. To remove the garment from the hanger, a pushbutton integrated with the main body armour can be pressed by the user to fold the hanger.
The Foldable Clothes Hanger has exceptional features of folding and unfolding of arms by precise mechanical movements. The outstanding features of this invention removes the need for undoing and doing up buttons in order to insert the hanger or otherwise. With this invention the neck span size is no longer an issue.
Preferably the said hanger can be made of plastics, metals, or wood or from any combination of these materials.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of examples with reference to the accompanying drawings in which : Fig. l is the prospective view of the Foldable Clothes Hanger in folded position showing a hook, main body armour, pushbutton and arms ; Fig. 2 is the internal front view of the Foldable Clothes Hanger in a folded position showing moving mechanisms that comprise of gear wheels, gear arcs, a clamping track, clamping toothed levers, a release nodule, and arms, Fig. 3 is the internal front view of the Foldable Clothes Hanger in the open position for garment support, and the state of moving parts in the clamped position; Fig. 4 is the internal view of the circular hook housing showing the centre axle, off centre axle, clamping track, release nodule, system-locking upper recess and system-locking lower spacer with a pair of recesses; Fig. 5 is the view of the attached gear wheels ; Fig. 6 is the front view of the attached gear wheels : Fig. 7 is the view of the left arm with a gear arc, clamping toothed lever, recess for release button and mounting hole; Fig. 8 is the view of the right arm with a gear arc, clamping toothed lever. mounting hole and indent; Fig. 9 is the view of the top main body armour with pushbutton and a system-locking upper lug; Fig. 10 is the internal view of the main body armour showing centre and off-centre axle catches, systemlocking upper lug and a system-locking lower spacer

The external feature of the preferred embodiment of the Foldable Clothes Hanger of the present invention is illustrated in Fig. 1 TIle Foldable Clothes Hanger includes a hook 2. arms 17 and 22 to hang clothes. a circular main bod) armour 26, to securely lock the system. with a push button 28. The Pushbutton 28 allows means for releasing the arms 17.22 from their garment support position Fig. 2 shows the folded position of the Foldable Clothes Hanger with arms 17 and 22, a hook 2, attached
gear wheels 23 and 24. gear arcs 14 and 19. a clamping track 3 compnsmg of clamping toothed tracks 4 and 5 and release nodule 6. The damping toothed le\ ers 13 and 18. clamping toothed tracks 4 and 5 are idle in this position. The arms 17 and 22 are rotatably mounted on a stationary centre-axle 8 through holes 15 and 2 1 (refer Fig. 7, 8). The movements of the arms are being controlled by the attached gear wheels 23 and 24, which are rotatably mounted on the off-centre axle 9 through the hole 25, and arc gears 14 and 19 In this folded position, the gear arcs 14 and 19 are m contact with gear wheels 24 and 23 respectively The lower spacer 10 is designed to stop the arms coming close to each other when in the folded position.
Fig 3 shows the open or garment support position of the Foldable Clothes Hanger where the arms 17 and 22 have been pushed out and clamped to hang garment. As the left arm 22 moves in a clockwise motion by the pushing action of the user's thumb the gear arc 19 rotates on the gear wheel 23, which moves to the right as far as the indent 16 in arm 17, and the clampmg toothed lever 18 moves towards the clamping toothed track 4. As the right arm 17 moves in an anti-clockwise motion by the pushing action of the user's thumb, the gear arc 14 rotates on gear wheel 24, which is hidden under gear wheel 23, and clamping toothed lever 13 moves towards clamping track 5 and clamping into position.
Fig. 4 shows that the circular hook housing I comprising the pair of axles 8 and 9 in centre and off-centre positions of the housing to support the arms 22 and 17, and gears wheels 24 and 23 respectively. A clamping track 3 is built to be perpendicular to the surface of the circular hook housing 1, and parallel to the system-locking upper recess 7 integrated with hook 2. The system-locking upper recess 7 and a systemlocking lower spacer 10 which comprises of recesses 11 and 12 are designed to keep the system aligned and locked with the main body armour of Fig. 10 so that the moving parts are in position.
Fig. 10 shows the internal view of the main body armour consists of system-locking upper lug 32, centre axle catch 33, off-centre axle catch 34 and system-locking lower catch comprised of 29 and 30.
The diameter of the main body armour and the circular hook housing (Fig. 4) are designed to be exact so that the intended system locking becomes possible.
The hook 2 is to hang the Foldable Clothes Hanger on a trail or similar support. The folded position as shown in Fig. I enables the user to insert the hanger into the neck of the garment and the open position or garment support position as shown in Fig. 3 allows the user to hang garment To bring the arms from the folded position into open position, the arms can be pushed outwards and upwards by the user until the arms come into a clamped state, which can be felt by a clicking sound. The garment can easily be released or removed from the hanger by pressing the pushbutton 28 by the user.
Claims (11)
- Claims I A Foldable Clothes Hanger comprising of two foldable arms. in folded position, conveniently enables the user to insert the arms into the neck of the garment, further the rotatable arms allow the user to move the arms into open-position for supporting and presening the original shape and body of the garments and during the course of action' a) The top part of the left and right arms (closer to the main body armour) to be grasped by the thumbs, the upper part of the main body armour to be grasped by the index fingers respectively and then the said arms being opened outwards and upwards by the pushing action of the thumbs of the user's hands and clamped by the internal clamping mechanism; b) In order to release the garment from the said hanger a pushbutton employed in the main body armour of the said hanger, the said button being pushed to unclamp said arms so that the arms can fold back and hence release the garment.
- 2 A Clothes hanger as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the arms'movement control includes a gear arc attached with the left-ann, a second gear arc attached with the right-arm and attached gear wheels.
- 3 A Clothes hanger as claimed in Claim 1 and Claim 2 where the moving parts such as arms being supported and rotated on a centre-axle which is erected on a circular hook housing, the attached gear wheels being supported and rotated on an off-centre-axle which is erected on the same circular hook housing.
- 4 A Clothes hanger as claimed in Claiml and Claim 3 where the circular hook housing consist of two axles in z centre and off-centre positions, a clamping track comprises of a pair of clamping toothed tracks and a release nodule, an arc shaped recess integrated with a hook and a spacer providing means for locking the system.
