Abstract

A dog lead with a hook or clasp at one end to attach to a neck collar and a hand hold loop at the other. Near the hand hold is attached another hook or clasp which may be releasable attached to a sliding ring fitted to the lead. This hook and ring allows the lead, and thus the dog, to be secured to a fixed object such as a post without the need to detach the lead from the collar.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
We are pleased to announce the introduction of a unique new product concept to the field of pet care. Called SILS, the concept calls for the manufacture and distribution of a device to be used for securing a dog's lead to a stationary object when it becomes necessary to restrain the pet while taking the animal along shopping or other outings.
The device would be fabricated in essentially the same manner as a conventional dog lead but would be fitted with specially designed clips that would allow the lead to be secured around a stationary object without having to first release the lead. The clips would be positioned such that a section of the lead could be wrapped around the targeted object and the clips could then be engaged to secure the lead in this position. This would enable the pet owner to quickly and easily tether the dog to a stationary object without having to unclip the lead from the dog's collar, restrain the animal with one hand by holding onto the collar, wrap the lead around the targeted object with the other hand, and then clip the lead back to the dog's collar. This, of course, is at least a cumbersome and inconvenient task, particularly if one is carrying packages or other objects, and also creates an element of risk in that the animal could break free before the lead is properly secured and thus the animal and other people in the vicinity could be exposed to danger. With SILS, however, the pet owner would be able to quickly and easily tether the animal without having to release the lead. The device could be used to secure the dog's lead to such objects as fences, barriers, parking metres, road signs, gates, bike racks, lamp posts, pub tables or any of the other objects to which dog owners typically secure their pets.
With this configuration, SILS would serve as a handy device when taking one's dog along for shopping errands or other activities. The pet owner would be able to secure the dog outside a shop, for example, conduct his or her business as needed, and have full confidence that the pet will still be safely in place when the owner exits the shop.
Moreover, the owner will be able to accomplish the task of securing the pet in a quick and simple manner and will find it similarly easy to release the dog when desired, even if encumbered with shopping bags or other bulky objects.
SILS delivers clear convenience benefits and will have considerable appeal to a substantial market.
