Abstract

A device has a level top edge 2A and spikes 3 projecting below the opposite edge, one of the longitudinal faces (fig 2, 2) between being flat. The spiked edge of the device is inserted into a soft surface, the upper edge 2A forming a level to which the ground can be raised. Interconnecting hinges/brackets 1 are provided on the distal edges of the device allowing individual straight edges to be connected. Individual straight edges are held together by a square pin 4 which is inserted into a square hole in each bracket 1, such that a straight edge can only be connected at angles of 90 degrees or 180 degrees relative to an adjacent straight edge.

PATENT SPECIFICATION THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A LEVEL STRAIGHT EDGE THIS INVENTION PROVIDES VARIABLE SIZE LENGTHS AND WIDTHS OF A MANMADE MATERIAL WITH A STRAIGHT EDGE RUNNING DOWN ONE SIDE AND TOP WITH LARGE SPIKES RUNNING ALONG THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE LENGHT PROJECTING DOWNWARDS, AT EACH END OF THE LENGTH THERE ARE A NUMBER OF INTERLINKING BRACKETS ENABLING OTHER VARIABLE SIZE LENGTHS TO BE ATTACHED STRAIGHT OR AT 45 DEGREES THE BRACKETS ARE ABLE TO BE PINNED OR FIXED TO TAKE A SQUARE PIN, THE BRACKETS ARE OFFSET ON EACH END OF THE VARIABLE LENGTH THE PURPOSE OF THIS INVENTION IS TO PROVIDE A QUICK AND EASY WAY TO CREATE A BOXED SECTION OF ANY RESONABLE SIZE WHICH CAN BE SPIKED AND LEVELED INTO ANY UNEVEN SOFT SURFACE AND PROVIDE A BED IN WHICH TO LEVEL FLAT OR RAISE TO THE TOP PREFERABLY THE LENGHTS COULD BE MADE OUT OF METAL OR A RIGID PLASTIC THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE DESCRIBED WITH ACCOMPYING DRAWINGS THE INVENTION COMPRISES OF VARIABLE SIZED LENGHTS AS IN FIG 1 WITH A FLAT TOP AS 2A AND A FLAT BACK AS 2 EACH LENGTH HAS SPIKES RUNNING ALONG THE LENGTH AS 3 ON EACH END OF THE LENGTH THERE ARE INTER LINKING HINGES AS 1 ABLE TO TAKE A SQUARE PIN AS 4 THIS HINGE ENABLES THE LENGTHS TO BE CONSTUCTED AT 45 DEGREES AS FIG 3 OR STRAIGHT TO PROVIDE ANY DESIRED SIZED BOX SECTION AS FIG 4 FIG 2 SHOWS THE LENGHTS FROM THE TOP FIG 5 SHOWS THE LENGHTS FROM THE SIDE WITH HINGE IN PLACE FIGS 1/2/3/4/5 1 - INTERLINKING IllNGE WITH SQUARE HOLES. 3-SPIKES 2-LEVEL BACK 4-SQUARE PIN 2A-LEVEL TOP 5-VARIABLE THE DEPTH OF EACH LENGTH MAY VARY AS IN FIG 5/5 DEPTH

CLAIMS 1 A LEVEL STRAIGHT EDGE COMPRISES OF VARIABLE LENGHTS AS FIG 1 WITH A STRAIGHT TOP AS 2A AND A STRAIGHT BACK AS FIG 2/2 2 A LEVEL STRAIGHT EDGE AS CLAIMED IN 1 ALSO CAN HAVE VARIABLE WIDTHS AS FIG 5/5 3 AS CLAIMED IN 1 AND 2 EACH VARIABLE LENGTH HAS A NUMBER OF SPIKES RUNNING ALONG THE LENGTH FACING DOWN AS FIG1/3 4 AS PRECEEDING CLAIMS EACH LENGTH HAS INTERLINKING BRACKETS/HINGES OFFSET AS FIG 1/1 5 AS CLAIMED ABOVE EACH BRACKET/HINGE IS ABLE TO TAKE A SQUARE PIN FIG SHOWN FIG 3/1 6 AS CLAIMED ABOVE THE PIN FIG 1/4COULD BE FIXED OR PINNED INTO POSITION 7 AS CLAIMED ABOVE EACH VARIABLE LENGTH CAN BE ATTATCHED STRAIGHT OR AT 45 DEGREES 8 A LEVEL STRAIGHT EDGE DESCRIBED HERIN AND ILLUSTRATED WITH ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS <Desc/Clms Page number 3> Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS
1. A kit comprising a plurality of edge members and a plurality of pins having shafts of substantially square cross-section, each edge member comprising a length of strip material having an in use lower edge provided with a plurality of spaced apart spike elements for penetrating a substrate, an in use substantially flat upper surface, and respective ends provided with offset brackets so that when two such members are placed end to end these brackets inter-engage, these brackets also having substantially square cross-section apertures for reception of the shafts of the aforesaid pins so that edge members can be connected together, end to end, either in a straight line or at an angle of approximately 900 relative to each other.
2. A kit comprising a plurality of edge members and a plurality of pins having shafts of substantially square cross-section substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
