Abstract

An illuminated plug adapter has a large rounded body 1,4 and can be easily grabbed and pull out from several different hand positions. Instead of having to fiddle around with awkward on/off switches, you turn off the device you were using by pushing the large button 2 on its front. When on, the button illuminates doubling up as visual aid to let you know when something has been left on. Re-wiring the plug is made simple by a internal splitter 7 that directs wires into adapter pins where they are clamped into place.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
ILLUMINATED ADAPTER PLUG I This invention relates to an adapter plug.
Adapter plugs play a huge part in the process of running our daily lives efficiently.
All electrical appliances use them in order to plug into a wall socket or extension lead to access power.
Adapter plugs are however, difficult to grab and hold especially for those with gripping difficulties. Moreover due to the fact that on/off switches are so small and that these sockets are situated at skirting board height makes it difficult to tell when an electrical appliance has been left on, especially for those persons with bad eyesight.
According to the present invention there is provided a large more rounded adapter shape, a large button (which illuminates when appliance is switched on) situated on adapters outward looking face, internal wire clamps so that wires (live, neutral) can be inserted into adapter pins housing and clamped into place.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which :- Figure 1 shows in exploded view the various pieces and how they are assembled together.
Figure 2 shows picture of plastic plate housing square push locking switches and neon lights.
Figure 3 shows internal plug wall structure and adapter pin wire clamps. It also illustrates how splitter divides wires into relative pin housing.
Referring to the drawing the plug compromises of a outer shell 1, button 2, adapter pins wire clamps 4, plastic plate 3 that houses two neon lights 6, two resistors and a square push locking switch 5.
Push locking switch sits directly behind button when pushed down (on) neon lights are illuminated and power runs through to appliance. When switch is off, power to neon lights and appliance is cut off All pieces are held together by 3 screws inserted through the plugs back.

Claims (3)

  1. CLAIMS 1 An adapter plug comprising a large rounded shape, a large button situated on
    adapter front. Large button illuminates when adapter is switched on i. e when ivit C appliance has been powered.
  2. 2 An adapter plug as claimed in Claims 1 wherein to guide means is provided in the internal structure a splitter to control the insertion of wires into relative adapter pin housing.
  3. 3 An adapter plug as claimed in Claim 1 or 2, wherein locking means is provided by plastic clamps on adapter pins housing.
