Abstract
A visual aid device to assist a golfer gain a consistent level of accuracy in their back swing, comprises of a bracket clip (1) a ninety degree bracket (6) a bolt, nut and spring (2) this maintains tension across the device, two liquid levels, which are clear plastic tubes filled with a coloured liquid and bent to a slow radius (3), Cogs (5) to adjust in unison liquid levels (3) and Lines to indicate when the device is level around clear plastic tube (4).

GOLFER'S BACK SWING ACCURACY VISUAL DEVICE The invention relates to a golf back swing accuracy device, which is to assist golfer's when practising their back swing. To identify if they swing their club at the correct angle of plane.
The problem that the visual device solves is that when a person practice's their golf swing it will give accurate indication if they have swung the club correctly. Without trying to check the swing in front of a mirror, or relying on a friend or club professional to tell if the club is swung on the correct angle of plane, which is not always very accurate. The device therefore has the benefit of allowing the golfer to practice alone. The club should be at the same angle when the club is swung back, to check position when the golfers arms are at the nine o'clock position and the club head points to the sky, as it was prior to being swung.
The visual device provides the golfer with accurate indication as to how accurate they are swinging the club on the back swing, giving the golfer the opportunity to improve on any mistakes they make in their back swing regarding the angle of plane.
The visual device provides a visual aid by the use of two coloured liquid level tubes which are adjusted through the use of a triple cogged mechanism, which allows them to work. in unison.
Fixed to a golf club with a bracket clip. It can be used by persons of any size with any length of club, with accuracy.
The. visual device. can be. made. ftom 8c variety ofmaterials in its construction ~Or using. only one material. Preferably using all plastic in the main, with a coloured liquid/or liquids to provide the sigbtindication.
A preferred embodiment of the visual device will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which ; FIGURE 1. shows a side & end view of visual device.
FIGURE 2. shows attaching to golf club and adjusting to level, after club is set up before swing.
FIGURE 3. shows how the visual device works when a person has swung golf club back to check position, and the golfer, s arms are at the 9 o'clock position, and the golf club head points to the sky. In which case the liquid level tube, which was side on to the club prior to swing now appears on top of the club shaft, as arms have rotated during back swing.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
!'shown if figure 1, the visual device comprises of a bracket clip (1) mounted under a
sty degree bracket (6), a bolt and nut and a spring to maintain tension (2). Two liquid level . jss, which are a clear tubes filled with a coloured liquid and bent at a slow radius (3).
Lmes to indicate when the device is level around clear tubes (4). Also, three cogs-two forty five degree, and one parallel to make liquid level tubes adjust in unison (5), fixed to ninety degree bracket (6).
Figure 2 shows the visual device attached to club after the person has set the club up before making back swing. The visual device is attached to the top of the golf club shaft (7), at the bottom of the golf club grip (8), facing away from the persons body. The liquid level tube (3), is then adjusted by means of vertical movement indicated by arrows until bubble in liquid level (3), is showing in between lines (4. ) At this stage, when showing level, the liquid level tube on the side of club is adjusted via the cogs (5).
Figure 3 shows how the visual device looks to the golfer when back swing is made to the check position and the golfer can see whether they are accurate with their angle of plane or not, by checking if the bubble inside the liquid level tube (3) is in between lines (4), on liquid level tube (3).
Claims (8)
- CLAIM 1. The visual device provides a visual aid by use of two liquid level tubes which are adjusted via cogs in which a bolt a nut and a spring are used to maintain tension across the device and are fixed to a golf club with a bracket clip It can be used by persons of any level of ability, or size with any length of club, with accuracy.
- 2. The visual device as claimed in claim (l) is infinitely adjustable to suit the different club lengths and golfers height.
- 3. The visual device as claimed in claim (1 & 2) has two curved liquid level tubes for setting accuracy in the rest position and subsequently checking accuracy at the check point of the back swing
- 4. The cogs claimed in claim (1) are adjusted by means of a central cog linked to a cog on each of the tubes The adjustment of one tube has an equal and opposite effect on the opposite tube.
- 5. The spring as claimed in claim (1) provides tension across the device and holds liquid level tubes in postion after adjustment.
- 6. The device as claimed in claim (1) is clamped to a golf clubs shaft by means of a plastic bracket clip The bracket clip has sufficient elasticity so as to accommodate different shaft thickness.
- 7. A visual device as claimed in any proceedingclaim which is made from plastics or metals with a coloured liquid or a combination of these materials
- 8. A visual device substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
