Abstract

A paint and/or tool holder which includes a clamp which attaches to a stile of a ladder or pair of steps and from which depends pivotally a tray which is adapted to receive cans of paint and/or tools.

LADDER PAINT AND TOOL HOLDER This invention relates to a suspendable unit to hold paint, paint brushes, paint rollers and associated tools on ladders and steps.
Paint and all related materials when used on ladders and steps are usually secured by means of an"S"hook, or wire, or string etc, or held in the hand. These practices mean that the user often is not correctly balanced, or is unable to hold station with a free hand when working at height.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved device to hold paints, paintbrushes and tools to a ladder or steps stile.
According to the present invention there is provided a paint and associated tool holder including a mounting device adapted to be secured to a stile of a ladder or steps and a receptacle for paint, tools or the like, pivotally attached to the holding device.
Preferably, the receptacle is adapted to receive high volume application paints, rollers, paintbrushes and related tools.
Other forms of receptacle are adapted to receive low volume solvent application paints, varnishes, paintbrushes and related tools. A particular receptacle is adapted to receive a biodegradable disposable plastic liner to contain solvent-based paints and varnishes. Other receptacles are adapted to receive tools.

The mounting device preferably includes a clamp adapted for onehanded operation.

Figure 5. Shows in perspective a receptacle adapted to receive low volume solvent paints, varnishes and brushes and related tools, and a biodegradable disposable plastic liner adapted to fit in the receptacle.
Referring to Fig. 1 :-1 & 2 & 3 comprise a locking clamp (1,2) and a tightening screw (3) that attaches to a stile of a ladder or steps. Fig. 2 shows the clamp in position on a stile of a ladder. Fig. 3 illustrates a front view 4 and a side view 5 of a paint application receptacle receiving tray attached to the tightening screw (3) positioned on a stile of a ladder, that receives the paint application receptacles.

Figure 4. Shows the paint application receptacle receiving tray 6 in perspective and the receptacle 7 which receives high volume application paints and brushes and related tools. The receptacle 7 has a detachable handle 8.
Figure 5. Shows a receptacle 9 which receives low volume solvent paints, varnishes, brushes and related tools. A biodegradable disposable liner 10 that fits within the receptacle 9 to contain these paints.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A paint and associated tool holder, including a mounting device adapted to be secured to a stile of a ladder or steps a receptacle for paint, tools or the like pivotally attached to the holding device.
  2. 2. A paint and tool holder according to Claim I wherein the receptacles are adapted to receive high volume application paint, rollers, paintbrushes, and associated tools.
  3. 3. A paint and tool holder according to Claim I or 2 wherein the receptacle is divided into a plurality of compartments to receive differing paints, rollers, paintbrushes and associated tools.
  4. 4. A paint and tool holder according to Claim 3 wherein a receptacle within a receptacle is adapted to receive a biodegradable disposable plastic paint liner
  5. 5. A paint and tool holder according to any preceding claim wherein the mounting device is adapted to be secured to the stile of a ladder or steps by a clamp adapted for one-handed operation
  6. 6. A paint and tool holder adapted to be secured to the stile of the ladder or steps substantially as hereinbefore described and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
