Abstract

The present invention is directed to a solid, non-wound, golf ball (8) comprising two or more core components (20, 22), and a cover component (11, 12). The core component (10) comprises i) a small, inner, high density, spherical center component (20) comprising a blend of powdered metal and a first matrix material comprising polybutadiene and polyisoprene; and, ii) an outer core layer (22) disposed about the spherical center component (20), formed from a second matrix material selected from the group consisting of a thermoset material, a thermoplastic material, or combinations thereof. The cover (11, 12) may be single or multi-layered. The resulting golf ball of the present invention provides for enhanced playability characteristics without sacrificing distance or durability properties.

{57) The present invention is directed to a solid, non-wound, golf ball
(8) comprising two or more core components (20, 22), and a cover component (11, 121. The core component {10} comprises i} a small, inner, high density, spherical center component (20) comprising a blend of powdered metal and a first matrix material comprising polybutadiene and polyisoprene; and, ii) an outer core layer {22} disposed about the spherical center component (20), formed from a second matrix material selected from the group consisting of a thermoses material, a thermoplastic material, or combinations thereof. The cover (11, 12) may be single or multi-layered. The resulting golf ball of the present invention provides for enhanced playability characteristics without sacrificing distance or durability properties.
