Abstract

A linear incandescent lamp comprises a tubular glass envelope (18) which is sealed to a gas-tight manner and has a longitudinal axis (26), a filament (8) longitudinally arranged in the envelope (18), at least one lamp base (20, 22) for connecting the lamp to a socket, and a filament-support mount (28). The filament-support mount (28) comprises an elongated backbone tube (2) made at insulating material. The backbone tube (2) has at least one open end and extends substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis (26) and is supported in the envelope (18). The filament-support mount (28) includes two current-supply conductors (4) each embedded with one end laterally into the backbone tube (2) at an end portion thereof for supplying current to and holding the filament (8). At least one support-wire (6) extends laterally from the backbone tube (2) for supporting the filament (8) at intervals between the current-supply conductors (4) and an in-lead wire (16) is connected to each current-supply conductor (4).
