Abstract
A kitchen cabinet is made entirely of plastic parts which may be screwed or welded together and has a removable back panel 5. The plan view in Fig 4 shows this panel is screwed in place to allow access to the rear wall. The depth of the cabinet is adjusted with movable brackets 4 (Fig 2). The doors are on quick release hinges and the edges of the cabinet can be matched to the door colour using tape or waterproof paint.
Description
plasicab.
Having worked on numerous kitchens which were ruined after flood damage, i came up with the plasicab. flood water ruined mainly the base carcases and contaminated the walls behind.
The cabinet is made totally of plastic with a removable back.
The flood water does not destroy the plastic, it can be cleaned and decontaminated when the water subsides.
The removable back allows access to the wall behind so that it to can be dried and cleaned and decontaminated.
The edges of the cabinets can be finished with edging tape to match the door finish (as per chipboard carcases) or they can be finished with a waterproof paint. (eliminating having to re-edge after a flood).
The doors are hung on already available quick release door hinges. These allow anybody to unhinge the door and store suitably when a flood is iminent (therefore also saving the cost of replacement doors).
A description of the plasicab accompanied by 2 drawings

Fig 2 blown up view of bracket, removable back and support.
Fig 3 front view.
Fig 4 top view.
As shown in Fig 1. Nol is width of cabinet at 550mm
No 2 shows height 720mm No 3 is carcase material 15mm x 25mm which can either be screwed with stainless steel rust proof screws or plastic welded. 680 high xlOOmm offbase to allow water to run off with no awkward comers to trap contaminated water
Fig 2.
Fig 4 is adjustable bracket which can be moved in or out to alter the depths of the cabinet which would be useful to a fitter who will not find plastic as easy to cut as chipboard.
No 5 Fig 1+2 shows a 6mm removable back fixed with stainless steel screws. Fig 9 countersunk into the plastic.
Base 6 495mm deep (Fig 1+3) can be stainless steel screwed or plastic welded depending on customer requirements.
Holes are drilled to support the adjustable shelf made of carcase material No 7 Fig 1+3.
Fig 1+3+4 shows the width setting strap No 8 at 100mm deep, the width of the cabinet usually is determined by what size door is required when the kitchen is planned, anywhere in sizes in denominations of 100mm between 300 + 1200mm.
No 10 shows thickness of material 15mm or 18mm which can be edging taped or waterproof painted.
The basic premise is that the whole of the base carcase wll be made of plastic whether they be comer, sink, oven or standard carcases.
These plasicabs are meant to hold pots, pans, cups, glasses, plates or food etc.
Hopefully the plasicab will put an end to the destruction of a kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom anywhere where a flood can do damage.
Being made of plastic it is waterproof and will hopefully last for years to come.
