Abstract

A trolley for use in a super market equipped with bar code scanning beams that read the bar code of items as they are placed in the trolley. Items scanned have their details displayed on a display screen attached to a side of the trolley, a cumulative total is kept of the items scanned. If an item fails to scan the trolley is equipped to do one of three things, either beep, flash lights attached to the trolley or lock the trolley wheels so it cannot be moved. The trolley is constructed with two baskets one above the other the lower basket being used to place items in which are inappropriate for bar code scanning so they can be checked at a check out by an assistant. Items that have been scanned into the trolley can be paid for at a checkout without the need to re-scan the items, this reduces queuing time for shoppers.

Description

GRADANIEL SUPER MARKET TROLLEY INVENTION WHY WE NEED THIS TROLLEY INVENTON This invention will bring a new revolution to super market shopping.
As we know the worse thing for most shoppers today is the queues. Our day-to-day living is being made smoother, quicker and more efficient. This invention will reduce our queuing time considerably, therefore making super market shopping smoother, quicker and efficient.
HOW MY GRADANIEL SUPER MARKET TROLLEY INVENTION WORKS The (GSMT) Gradaniel super market trolley is the same size and shape as all basic super market trolleys that we use today.
The GSMT will be raised by 6 inches with an added basket underneath it.
Across the top of the trolley will be bar code scanning beams, which would read the bar code of each item placed in the trolley by the customer.
Items that are placed in the trolley would be read instantly and displayed on a small digital display screen on the side of the GSMT for the shoppers viewing.
As each item is scanned the price is recorded, added up and displayed for the receipt at the end of shopping. (Also letting customers know how much their shopping will cost them before they get to the checkout.) Items that are placed in the GSMT without being scanned by the bar code scanner will do one of three things.
1. Set off beeping sound.
2. Set, off flashing light that is attached to the trolley.
3. Immobilise wheels.
All three mechanisms will attract shop assistance for the shopper.
Items that have been placed in thé GSMT that are not required will be deducted at the checkout where the trolley scanner beams can be turned off.
Items that need to be weighed or do not have a bar code would be place in the basket underneath the GSMT and them weighed and priced at the checkout The shopper would them make their way to the checkout, where the goods will be paid for with out having to leave the GSMT, therefore cutting down the queuing time.
