Abstract

A compression spring of for a bicycle saddle is designed to provide cyclists with a more comfortable ride on traditional saddles, the spring being adapted to clamp to the top of a bicycle pole (not shown) and to the underside of the bicycle saddle (not shown). The spring comprises a U-shaped bar member which has a further bend at a position between the U bend and the two ends of the bar, the further bend being in a direction at right angles to that of the U bend. The spring is intended to be used with the latest moulded saddles (not shown) but can also be adapted to saddles which are more commonly used.

Description

P. B. S. COMPRESSION SPRING THE INVENTION RELATES TO A SPRING WHICH CLAMPS TO THE TOP OF A BICYCLE POLE AND TO THE UNDERSIDE OF A BICYCLE SADDLE.
SUCH SPRINGS AT THE MOMENT OFFER ONLY A POINT TO WHICH THE SADDLE CAN BE CLAMPED TO THE BICYCLE AND OFFER NO RESISTANCE TO SHOCK.
THE OBJECT OF THE INVENTION IS TO PROVIDE NOT ONLY SHOCK RESISTANCE BUT A PIVOTING NON FRICTION RIDE ON THE SADDLE.
THE MAIN FEATURE OF THE SPRING IS THAT IT CAN BE REVERSED TO GIVE UP AND DOWN SPRINGING ACTION AS WELL AS PIVOTING ACTION ON OPEN ENDS OF SPRING PROVIDING A MORE STABLE RIDE.
THE SPRING SHOULD BE MADE OF MILD STEEL.
THE INVENTION WILL NOW BE SHOWN AND DESCRIBED WITH REFERENCE TO THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS.
DESCRIPTION AS SHOWN IN FIGURE I THE OPEN ENDS OF THE SPRING OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY OR TOGETHER DEPENDING ON MOTION OF RIDER AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 2 THE SPRING CAN BE REVERSED AND BE SHAPED IN VARIOUS CONFIGURATIONS TO INCREASE FIRMER AND MORE FLEXIBLE RIDES.
THE SPRING IN FIGURE I COMPRESSES THE OPEN ENDS TO FIT INTO AN UNDERCARRIAGE SPECIALLY DESIGNED'NOT SHOWN'.
THE SPRING IN FIGURE 2 IS THE SAME AS FIGURE I IS RECESSED INTO A SPECIAL UNDERCARRIAGE'NOT SHOWN'.

Claims (3)

  1. CLAIMS 1. THE COMPRESSION SPRINGS SHOWN WIITH ACCOMPANIED DRAWING WILL PROVIDE A PIVOTING SPRING ACTION ON FIGURE I AND A SPECIFIC SPRING ACTION UP AND DOWN ON FIGURE 2.
  2. 2. THE SPRING CAN BE ADAPTED TO MANY APPLICATIONS. THE SPRING IS DESIGNED IN CONJUNCTION WITH A SPECIAL UNDERCARRIAGE'NOT SHOWN'.
  3. 3. A SPRING AS HEREIN AND ILLUSTRATED IN THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWINGS.
