Abstract
The card for has a pre-set value and can be used by people under the age of 18 and people without a credit rating or bank account enabling purchase of goods and/or services, even over the internet.
Description
The"Pre-pay charge card"
This invention relates to a pre-pay charge card.
"Debit","credit","charge"and"store"cards are well known devices for purchasing goods and or services. These cards are only available to adults over the age of 18 with an acceptable credit rating, who have a bank account.
When goods and or services are purchased using a debit card, money limited by a preset maximum is withdrawn directly from the customer's bank account.
When goods and or services are purchased using a credit or store card, money is limited by a preset maximum, usually an amount much higher than in the case of a debit card, and is paid by the financial institution or store who issues the card on behalf of the customer. The customer is then invoiced for all their purchases on a monthly basis, when they have a choice of paying off all of the outstanding amount or part of the amount and being liable for interest on the remainder.
When goods and or services are purchased using a charge card, it is similar to using a credit or store card, but the customer pays all of the outstanding balance at the end of each month.
According to the present invention a card is made available to people even under the age of 18, even with a poor credit rating and no bank account is necessary.
The limit to the value of the goods and or services purchased is preset by the value of the"pre-pay charge card"or the amount the customer pre-pays into their"prepay charge card's"account.
