Abstract
A punchbag with a water chamber comprises an outer bag 10 having an open end 11 provided with a detachably connectable lid 14, an inner bag 20 having an outer water chamber 21 and an inner air chamber 22 and a retaining device to secure the outer bag. The inner bag may be concentrically received within the outer. There may be water 24 and air 26 outlets provided in the inner bag, which may be sealed by plugs 25,27. The water outlet may further comprise a valve plate 28 (fig 2, not shown) to prevent leakage from the water outlet. The punchbag may have an inclined face 23 and the retaining device may comprise at least two belts 31 having one end secured to the outer bag, the other end being provided with a half-moon ring 32 to connect with a chain 33. In use, the bag has an excellent rebound and simulates well the impact of blows on the human body. When not in use, the two bags can be emptied, separated from each other and folded for ease of storage.
Description
PUNCHBAG 1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a punchbag that can be filled with water and air to adjust a required weight of the punchbag whereby the punchbag has an excellent rebound and simulates well the impact of blows on a human body.
2. Description of Related Art
A conventional punchbag as shown in Fig. 4 comprises a bag (30) suspended by three chains (31) at a top hem of the bag (30). A hook (32) is engaged with distal ends
of the three chains (31) and is attached to a suitable place of a ceiling or other high places. The bag (30) is filled with stuffing (33) such as coarse cotton or chopped tires, and the chopped tires can enhance a weight of the punchbag.
However, several disadvantages exist in this conventional punchbag and are listed as following:
1. Difficulty in transportation: Because the bag (30) is filled with coarse cotton and chopped tires, a finished product of the conventional punchbag not only takes up a lot of space but also has a cumbersome weight when it is transported.
2. Inconvenience in storage:
The conventional punchbag can not be folded or reduced after use, therefore it is inconvenient for storage.
3. No sense of reality:
The stuffing (33) inside the bag (30) is composed of coarse cotton and chopped tires, and both materials have bad elasticity and bad rebound, and therefore punching the conventional punchbag can not give the authenticity of fighting with a real opponent.
For those sakes and to overcome the shortcomings, the present invention tends to provide a punchbag to mitigate and obviate the aforementioned problems.
The main objective of the invention is to provide a punchbag that has an inner bag and an outer bag, and these two bags can be separated from each other and folded respectively whereby the punchbag is easily stored.
Another objective of the invention is to provided a punchbag wherein the inner bag is divided into a water chamber and an air chamber, therefore the inner bag is filled with water and air to make the punchbag have excellent rebound.
Still another objective of the invention is to provide a punchbag that makes a user to have a sense of reality while punching it.
Other objects, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings:
Fig. 1 is an exploded view of a punchbag of this invention;
Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view of a water outlet on an inner bag of the punchbag in accordance with Fig. 1 ;
Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the assembled punchbag ; and
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a conventional punchbag.
As shown in Figures I and 2, a punchbag is composed of an outer bag (10), an inner bag (20) disposed inside the outer bag (10), and a retaining device (30).
The outer bag (10) is made of a soft material such as cloth and has an open end (11) defined in a top face and a lid (14) matched with the open end (11). The lid (14) is combined with a top hem (13) of the outer bag (10) by a zipper (15) to cover the open end (li).
The inner bag (20) is concentrically divided into an outer water chamber (21) and an inner air chamber (22). The water chamber (21) has an inclined top face (23). A water outlet (24) is defined in the inclined top face of the water chamber (21) and a water plug (25) is securable in the water outlet (24) to provide access to and closure of the water chamber (21). Additionally, as shown in Fig. 2, the water outlet (24) has a valve plate (28) hinged to an inner wall thereof on the inclined top face of the water
chamber (21) to enhance the anti-leaking ability. The air chamber (22) has an air outlet (26) defined in a top surface of the air chamber (22). An air plug (27) corresponding to the air outlet (26) is securable to the top surface of the air chamber (22) to allow inflation of and seal of the air chamber (22).
The retaining device (30) comprising four belts (31) are evenly connected with an outside periphery of the outer bag (10) at first ends, and each belt (31) has a halfmoon ring (32) at a second end to connect with a group of chains (33). A hook (34) is secured at a top of the chains (33).
In assembly of the punchbag, the unstuffed inner bag (20) is put inside the outer bag (10) first. Then water is poured into the water chamber (21) via the water outlet (24) until the water fills half capacity of the water chamber (21) and the water plug (25) is inserted into the water outlet (24). Next, air is pumped into the air chamber (22) to make the air chamber (22) totally expand, and at the same time, the water inside the water chamber (21) is squeezed by a force of the expanded air chamber (22) and rises to a top of the water chamber (21). Finally, the air plug (27) is mounted on the air inlet (26) to seal the air chamber (22).
After completely filling the inner bag (20), the lid (14) of the outer bag (10) is joined with the top hem (13) by zipping the zipper (15) and then the whole punchbag can be hung at a required place by the hook (34) and the chains (33). A quantity of the water poured inside the water chamber (21) controls both an ideal weight and a softness/hardness of the punchbag to make the punching realistic. Moreover, the valve plate (28) formed on the inner wall of the water outlet (24) seals the water chamber (21) tightly and prevents water from spurting out when the punchbag is punched violently.
According to the above description, several advantages are concluded as in the following list:
1. Easily transported:
The outer bag (10) and the inner bag (20) can be separated from each other and folded when the inner bag (20) is not stuffed with air and water, so that this invention is easily transported.
2. Conveniently stored:
The stuffing inside the inner bag (20), the water and the air, are easily squeezed out of the water chamber (21) and the air chamber (22), therefore the punchbag is conveniently stored after releasing the stuffing.
3. Authenticity:
The weight and rebounding force of the punchbag achieved by pouring different quantities of the water into the water chamber (21) result in a sense of punching a real opponent.
It is to be understood that this invention is practical and beneficial for user and manufacturer. However, although numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention. The disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
