A CONTAINER, USED AS A PARTOF A DELIVERY SYSTEM FOR ENABLING SECURE DELIVERY OF GOODS TO PREMISES, COMPRISES A CLOASABLE BOX HAVING A DOOR 15 INCORPORATING A LOCK 16. THE LOCK 16 IS RELEASED BY MEANS OF A CODE WHICH IS SUPPLIED TO THE CARRIER, FOR EXAMPLE AT THE TIME OF PLACING AN ORDER FOR GOODS. A UNIQUE IDENTIFIER, SUCH AS A BAR CODE 20, IS POSITIONED INSIDE THE CONTAINER SO THAT IT MAY BE READ BY THE CARRIER, DURING ACCESS TO THE CONTAINER, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE PROOF THAT A DELIVERY HAS BEEN MADE. THE LOCK MAY BE OBTAINED FROM A SYSTEM CONTROLLING DELIVERY TO SEVERAL CONTAINERS.
