Abstract

Absorbent pad assemblies and articles are provided which include at least a first generally planar fluid conveyance barrier member of preselected permeability interposed between first and second vertically orientated absorbent members. Also provided is a method for forming an absorbent structure wherein a fluid conveyance barrier member of preselected permeability is adjacently disposed between first and second absorbent members with the barrier member and the first and second absorbent members orientated such that as to have a specifically desired ratio of horizontal width to vertical height.
