Abstract
A golf club or set of clubs which are collapsible for transportation or storage. The shaft D,E may be telescopic fig 6 and the heads C may be interchangeable. A complete set or driving range set of clubs may, when collapsed, fit into a case such as a briefcase fig 7 or other holder. The case may be fitted with foam inserts B fig 7 with spaces C,D fig 7 for the club heads, shafts and other accessories such as tees, balls and gloves andc. The shafts may also be fitted into the lid E fig 7.
Description
GOLF
This invention is for golf clubs that are compact and/or collapsible!
Golf clubs are used by many persons for either playing a round of golf on a purpose built course or by playing (practising) at a driving range.
Even so golf being a very popular sport it is not always practical to have your clubs with you as they take up quite a large amount of space for example they would not fit in the luggage compartment of most sports cars, they would be awkward to take on a train journey and not a lot of bosses would appreciate your golf set propped against your desk at work (if you fancied a game after work).
This invention incorporates golf clubs which can either be taken apart or collapsed to be made compact and then if so desired be placed into a compact case (smaller holder than a golf bag) e. g. a briefcase.
Please read the specifications to follow and look at the corresponding drawings so as to see how a compact/collapsible golf set of clubs could be achieved.
Figure 1 shows: Part of the clubs design which enables all club heads to be interchangable with any shaft.
If you have ever played golf or used clubs you will probably know that different numbered clubs have different angled club faces, weights and different length shafts. All of the club heads made will be of the standard angle and weight for that certain club, but the piece of shaft connected to the club head will incorporate the extra or less length of shaft needed for that certain club.
Extra or less shaft length shown by (A) Club head shown by (B)
Figure 2 shows: A breakdown of a complete club in sections.
Club head shown as (C)
Central shaft piece shown as (D) Top of shaft and grip shown as (E) Figure 3 shows: One of the many ways of how the club pieces could be fixed together, this drawing shows a spring clip of some kind:
Spring in shaft shown as (A)
Pin attached to spring through shaft, but when pressure is applied by a persons finger as shown the pin becomes flush with the shaft enabling you to insert this piece of shaft into the adjoining piece. Shown as (B)
Hole in adjoining shaft of which pin (B) will be inserted into to lock shafts together,
Shown as (C)
Figure 4 shows: Another example of how the club pieces could fit together, this example is by using a grub screw which is screwed through both pieces of shaft once inserted together:
Threaded hole in one piece of shaft shown as (D) Slight rebate in shaft so this piece slots into the other piece of shaft (I) shown as (E) Hole in shaft (I) which corresponds with the location of the threaded hole (D) of shaft (H) shown as (F)
Grub screw which is inserted through both shafts when pushed together to make a permanent join until unscrewed! shown as (G)
Figure 5 shows: Another example of how the club pieces could fit together, In this drawing one piece of the shaft has a thread on the end which acts as a bolt shown as (J) and the other piece of shaft has a thread on the inside which acts as a nut shown as (K), when these are screwed together they make a solid shaft.
Figure 6 shows: Another completely different example is a collapsible telescopic club which would like a car ariel stay in an open position when slight pressure is put on either end outwards (L) and (M) show where pressure is applied outwards.
Or the pieces could be fixed some how once extended!
Claims (5)
- CLAIMS 1) These compact/collapsible golf sets/clubs can be taken apart or put together as much as you desire for what ever reason you want so as to benefit you and your golf.
- 2) If telescopic, collapsed or extended as much as desired.
- 3) In no way is this design/invention intended to infringe or out do the standard design of golf clubs already in circulation as most golf players have there own spec -ial clubs of normal configuration which will always be the best and true golf clubs , instead these clubs are designed to accompany as a second set for the keen golfer whom can not always carry his/her clubs.
- 4) There is also no set restriction on how many pieces go into making a complete club it can be packed as small or as large as required although this example of a set is designed to fit in a briefcase for example.
- 5) The way in which the club parts are joined together can be achieved in many ways three examples are given in figures 3, 4 and 5.
