Abstract

The flexible pressure sensitive adhesive comprises a clear or translucent plastisised PVC film. The film is bonded to a non-porous material, preferably glass, and the exposed side is coated with a silicone or wax non-stick layer. Self adhesive materials can be applied to and released form the non-stick coating. The film can be decorated or printed upon, and applied to windows.

Description

AN ADHESIVE RELEASE FILM. This invention relates to the addition of an adhesive release layer to a clear or translucent flexible plastisized PVC film, that has self-cling properties to glass and to other non-porous surfaces. One surface of this transparent self cling PVC film is coated with a clear adhesive release layer of silicone or wax that will carry and release any adhesive material applied to it.
A combination of an adhesive release coating and a transparent PVC self cling film that can replace the use of opaque wax adhesive release paper carriers allowing self adhesive products to be applied to it and removed from it.
The decorated self adhesive product combined with this PVC release film can be attached to non porous surfaces with the carrier left on especially for window glass decoration. With the carrier removed from the decorated self adhesive product it can be attached to porous surfaces especially to walls and doors.
When printing on clear plastic films the image can be printed or copied from an original as a double sided image to be viewed as identical images from both sides especially when adhered to the inside of a glass window or light. Some PVC protection films carried on an opaque release paper are printed with images for two way viewing for application with soapy water to glass, they do not adhere to porous surfaces.
Flexible self adhesive PVC films and papers called stickers or labels are carried on an opaque wax release paper, printed, cut to shape and applied to a surface after removing and discarding the carrier paper, these products cannot be applied or removed to both porous and non porous surfaces in a satisfactory manner.
Some adhesives are said to stick to glass, however after periods of time have passed and being subjected to extremes of weather, temperature, central heating, condensation and moisture the adhesive becomes brittle, the printed plastic film expands and contracts exposing a line of adhesive which attracts dust and grime. It is difficult to remove the adhesive from the glass surface and the design or shape cannot be re-used as originally intended.
The novelty in my invention is that decorated self adhesive products combined with this release coated PVC film can be attached to non porous surfaces with the carrier left on especially for window glass decoration and two way printing. With the carrier removed from the decorated self adhesive product it can be attached to porous surfaces especially to walls and doors.
