Description

MACINFTIC MFMBER AND TOOT. MEANS MOIMING ARRANGEMENT
The present invention relates to hand tools, and more specifically to a magnetic member and tool means mounting arrangement, in which magnetic members are fastened to a tool and disposed in flush with the front end or peripheral wall of the tool for magnetically attracting iron objects.
A machine maintenance engineer or repair worker may need to use a variety of hand tools and accessories during the maintenance or repair work.
During maintenance or repair work, small parts or tool accessories such as screws, nuts, tool bits, and etc. , may drop from the machine or the hand tool.
When working in a narrow area, it is difficult to pick up small fallen items.
The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to provide a magnetic member and tool means mounting arrangement, which equips a tool means with at least one magnetic member, so that the tool means can magnetically attract small iron items. According to the present invention, the tool means can be a socket, ratchet socket wrench, box end wrench, pliers, screwdriver, combination wrench, hammer, etc. , and the magnetic member can be a magnetic ring, magnetic rod element, or arched magnetic strip.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is an exploded view of a stepped socket, a magnetic member and a locating ring according to a first embodiment of the present invention ; Fig. 2 is an assembly view of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is an exploded view of a stepped socket, a magnetic member and a locating ring according to a second embodiment of the present invention ; Fig. 4 is an assembly view of Fig. 3; Fig. 5 is an exploded view of another alternate form of the present invention; Fig. 6 is elevational view of still another alternate form of the present invention ; Fig. 7 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention ; Fig. 8 is an elevational view of still another alternate form of the present invention ; Fig. 9 is an elevational view of still another alternate form of the present invention ;
Fig. 10 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention ; Fig. 11 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention ; Fig. 12 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention; Fig. 13 is an assembly view of Fig. 12; Fig. 14 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention; Fig. 15 is an assembly view of Fig. 14; Fig. 16 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention; Fig. 17 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention; Fig. 18 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention; Fig. 19 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the
present invention ; Fig. 20 is an elevational view of still another alternate form of the present invention, showing the present invention used in a tongue-andgroove pliers ; Fig. 21 is an exploded view of still another alternate form of the present invention, showing the present invention used in a spanner, Fig. 22 is an elevational view partially in section of still another alternate form of the present invention, showing the present invention used in a screwdriver; Fig. 23 is an elevational view of still another alternate form of the present invention, showing the present invention used in a combination wrench; Fig. 24 is an elevational view partially in section of still another alternate form of the present invention, showing the present invention used in a hammer, Fig. 25 is a plain view of still another alternate form of the present invention, showing the present invention used in a lineman's pliers ; Referring to the various drawings attached hereeith, a detailed description of the magnetic member and tool means mounting arrangement
of the present invention is as follows : Referring to Figures 1 and 2, a socket 1 is shown comprising a stepped shell 10, a magnetic member 11 shaped like a short barrel and a locating ring 12. The stepped shell 10 has longitudinally extended sections of different diameters, and a plurality of longitudinal teeth 101 spaced around the periphery of the front section, which has the smallest diameter. The magnetic member 11 fits over the periphery of the front section of the stepped shell 10, comprising a plurality of longitudinal teeth 111 spaced around the inner diameter thereof and meshed with the longitudinal teeth 101 of the stepped shell 10. The locating ring 12 is sleeved onto the magnetic member 11 to secure the magnetic member 11 to the stepped shell 10.
Figs. 3 and 4 show an alternate form of the present invention. This embodiment is similar to the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 with the exception of the design of the magnetic member 11. According to this embodiment, the magnetic member 11 has a bottom flange 112 outwardly perpendicularly raised from the periphery of the bottom side thereot which supports the locating ring 12, and is peripherally disposed in flush with the locating ring 12 for magnetically attracting small iron objects.
Figs. 5 and 6 show another two alternate forms of the present invention.
According to these two alternate forms, the socket 2 has an annular mounting groove 21 disposed on the front end thereof, and a magnetic ring 20 or 14 is press-fitted into the annular mounting groove 21 and disposed in
flush with the front end of the socket 2.
Fig. 7 shows still another alternate form of the present invention.
According to this alternate form, the socket 1 has a plurality of longitudinal slots 31 equally spaced at the front side thereof and a plurality of magnetic rod members 30 respectively press-fitted into the longitudinal slots 31 and disposed in flush with the front side wall of the socket 1.
Figs. from 8 through 10 show still another three alternate forms of the present invention. According to these alternate forms, the socket 3 has at least one transverse slot, and a magnetic rod member 30 is respectively press-fitted into each transverse slot and disposed in flush with the outside wall of the socket 3.
Figs. from 11 through 25 shows still various other alternate forms of the present invention. According to these alternate forms, the hand tool 5 or 6 is peripherally mounted with at least one arched magnetic strip 51 or 61, or magnetic rod element 50 or 60. The hand tool can be a ratchet socket wrench, box end wrench, pliers, screwdriver, combination wrench, hammer, etc.
It is to be understood that the drawings are designed for purposes of illustration only, and are not intended for use as a definition of the limits and scope of the invention disclosed.
