Abstract
236,720. Douglas, J. W., (Executrix of Douglas, R. P.). June 19, 1924. Rotary strainers-A vessel divided by radial partitions a into compartments provided with sieves c<1> rotates on a stationary hollow shaft b slotted along it upper surface. Material is supplied through a spout 5 to the, uppermost compartment, and the liquid therefrom is drawn away through the shaft b. The solid matter is discharged from the compartment in the course of rotation which may be continuous or intermittent. The vessel may be rotated by a handle wheel and worm gearing, or by power. Or it may rotate under the gravitation of the material treated, dash-pots being provided to regulate the movement.
