Abstract

A rod holder comprises an adjustable strap 2 for attachment to the thigh of the angler. Said strap comprises an interchangeable hook or cup 8 for supporting the rod and a series of elasticated rings 6 for holding accessories eg. a disgorger. A further adjustable strap 4 is provided over the rings to hold the accessories in place. The strap components may be made from a waterproof material.

Description

The Rod Holder [Technical field] This invention relates to a rod and accessory holder for use in angling [Background] At the moment when the angler catches a fish, it is nesscercery to hold the rod with one hand, leaving the other free to operate other equiptment. Lack of control of the rod can lead to the loss of the fish. Additinally, small accessores such as scissors and disgorger are needed at this time.
[Technical features] This invention provides for a hook or cup to support the rod and loops to hold small accessiores all fitted to a belt designed to be worn on the anglers thigh. The belt can be adjusted to accomidate various thigh sizes, and can be worn on the right or left and can be used sitting or standing.
[Example] A specific embodyment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure I shows top view of the belt.
Figure 2 shows sideview illustrating retaining loops Figure 3 shows rod hook and retaining clip also loops and strap.

Referring to the drawing the belt comprises an elasticated strap [figl. 1] which is fitted with an adjustable fastner on the underside [fig2. 7] with a mounted strip [figl. 2] on the top. On the mounted strip is a retaining clip [figl. 3] and an accessary strap [figl. 4] this is also adjustable with a buckle [figl. 5] on the right hand side.
In order to retain accesories the the strap has underneath several elasticated loops [fig2 6] and comprises a quick retaining strap on the top [fig2. 4] The main feature of the stap is a pre formed hook [fig3. 8] for retaining the rod this is demountable via a retaining clip [fig3. 3] to allow other forms of retainer to be fitted i. e.
Cup for fly fishing.

  1. Rod Holder Claims 1. A adjustable strap comprising a facility for retaining and holding a rod and accessories
  2. 2. A adjustable strap as claimed in claim 1 wherein a retaining hook can be removed to facilitate fitting of a cup or other accessory.
  3. 3. A adjustable strap as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein elasticated loops are fitted to retain accessories.
    4. A adjustable strap as claimed in claim 2 or 3 wherein a quick release strap is fitted over loops for retaining accessories.
    5. A adjustable strap as claimed in claims 2, 3, 4 wherein a buckle is fitted for tensioning the quick release strap.

    Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows Rod Holder Claims 1 A adjustable strap comprising a facility for retaining and holding a rod and accessory.
    2 A adjustable strap as claimed in claim 1 wherein a retaining hook can be removed to facilitate fitting of a cup or other accessory.
    3 A adjustable strap as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein elasticated loops are fitted to retain accessories 4 A adjustable strap as claimed in claim 2 or 3 wherein a quick release strap is fitted over loops for retaining accessories.
  5. 5 A adjustable strap as claimed in claims 2,3, 4 wherein a buckle is fitted for tensioning the quick release strap.
  6. 6. A adjustable strap as claimed in claims 2, 3,4, 5 wherin the componants are made of a watwerproof material.
